Julian Joachim of Aston VillaFULHAM boss Jean Tigana has launched a £3million bid for Julian Joachim.

Aston Villa's rebel striker was transfer-listed after branding manager John Gregory 'gutless and spineless'.

Gregory slapped a £6m price tag on Joachim, 25, but may sell if Tigana ups his offer to £4m.

Following the departure of Dwight Yorke early on last season, and the problems surrounding Stan Collymore, Julian gained himself a regular place at Aston Villa and celebrated with goals. With the exception of just nine games, the high-scoring forward featured in all of Villa's starting line-ups, and came off the bench eight times to finish the campaign as the club's leading goalscorer. Having waited patiently for his chance, his main strength was undoubtedly his lightning pace, and his ability to take advantage of it when running at defenders and causing them all kinds of problems. Although he often had to adjust to a different strike partnership throughout the campaign, ending it with Dion Dublin, he gave many brilliant displays and put himself in line for an England call up. As Villa supporters' "Player of the Season", watch out for him and Dublin this time round. Julian remains in or around the Villa squad and has knocked in a few vital goals this season. Following the signing of Benito Carbone, Julian found himself on the bench but with Dion Dublin being out for the season he has regained him place in a "tiny", but skilful, Villa forward line.
