Fulham Manager Kit Symons believes Fulham are moving in the right direction, despite last night's defeat at Watford.

Millwall's reverse against Middlesbrough the same evening means Symons' men are now eight points clear of the Championship drop zone.

But more important for the Whites boss was the performances in their last three games, despite a return of just three points.

He said: "The performances have been good lately, we've stuck to the game plan. We're a work in progress but we're going in the right direction. We haven't got the points tally I would have liked, but even when we were 3-0 down at half time against Wolves I thought we were doing well.

"I think we did quite well (against Watford). We had more shots on target, and while these things are great, ultimately it's the score that I'm worried about. We were better than Derby and we were equally as good as Watford, so it's frustrating that we are where we are.

"I think we deserved to get something out of the game. A draw would have been a fair result as it was pretty even-stevens. I was disappointed to concede from their first attack, but we haven't been defending set pieces properly of late, and we have to look at that.

"Troy Deeney is a good finisher in those situations. Their front three are all very bright and good at linking up play, and we had to stay with our runners rather than focus on the ball. At the same time, they have a lot of bright players, and if you focus on just one there are plenty of others who can hurt you."
