Fulham manager Kit Symons insisted his team deserved the slice of luck they enjoyed in their controversial win against Blackburn.

The Whites' 2-1 victory at Craven Cottage came after first-half goals from Ross McCormack and Moussa Dembele put them in a commanding position.

Jordan Rhodes pulled a goal back for Rovers with a second-half penalty and they were denied an equaliser despite Grant Hanley's close-range effort appearing to cross the line before being cleared by Jamie O'Hara.

Symons said: "It looked like it probably crossed the line but I'm not going to apologise for getting a bit of luck. We've had bad luck to deal with.

"In the early part of the season we didn't get the results I felt we deserved and people were critical.

"But I knew our luck would turn. You get a slice of luck now and then and maybe we got that today."

Fulham keeper Andy Lonergan made several fine saves as Symons' side were forced to absorb spells of pressure, particularly in the second half.

But the hosts' brilliant start - they were two ahead after half an hour - proved to be all-important.

"We played really well in the first half and played some exceptional stuff," Symons said.

"Even their players were walking off at half-time saying that they had nothing to lose in the second half. They then threw everything at us.

"In the first half we played with a lot of fluidity. It's coming together. We just want to keep on improving and winning games."
