Steve Dunn to ref Leeds game

last updated Thursday 11th March 2004, 3:01 PM
Steve Dunn - Bristol, AvonRef Steve Dunn Steve Dunn has now turned full-time professional referee after previously listing his occupation as 'self-employed retailer'. The West Country boy began refereeing in his spare time for the Bristol, Country and Western leagues in 1978. After joining the Football league's list of referees in 1992, Dunn progressed quickly, gaining promotion to the Premier League in 1995 and FIFA in 1996. 2001 was Dunn's biggest year, as he took charge of some key World Cup qualifying matches, not to mention the small matter of the FA Cup final between Liverpool and Arsenal. Many Fuham fans will not have forgotten Mr Dunn's performance up in Birmingham when he sent off Sylvain for two nothing fouls, let Luis get kicked all over the park and ignored a bad foul by Junichi that would have been his second yellow. Oh he also let Luis assault Maik Taylor for Fulham's second goal. Top Ref.
Ref Dunn's has whistled just a little less than than the average Ref this season as he has for the previous two seasons. That is pretty much the same situatuin in relation to yellow cards as well. However he is twice as likely to issue a red card. Last season he issued one during 19 games but this year it is 4 in 13 games. He has held off getting his red card out for 6 games now so it may show up on Saturday

Ref Dunn is clearly a homer, albeit not one of the worse, and has a healthy bias in favour of the home squad. Hopefully he does not have it in for The Cottagers after his very poor outing in the 2-2 draw up in Birmingham.

2003/2004
14-09-2003 Premier Birmingham 2-2 Fulham 5y 2r
Bookings: Johnson, Purse (sent off 82, straight red)(Birmingham) Boa Morte. Goma. Inamoto. Legwinsk,i Legwinski (sent off 60, second yellow)(Fulham)
Ref Dunn had a mare, issuing cards like confetti. Boa Morte collided with Taylor who dropped the ball which Boa Morte then hooked into the net. Dunn saw nothing wrong with the collision so Boa got an excellent goal. Legwinski was sent off for two innocent looking fouls which may not have even made any contact with the opposition player. 2002/2003
08-02-2003 Premier Fulham 2-1 Aston Villa 4y 0r
Bookings: Melville (Fulham) Barry. Edwards. Gudjonsson (Aston Villa)
Ref Dunn is one of the few ref's to be impressed with Luis Boa Morte's tumbles, in this game he gave us a penalty. 28-09-2002 Premier Everton 2-0 Fulham 4y 0r
Bookings: Unsworth (Everton) Hayles. Melville. Wome (Fulham)
Another bruising encounter with Moyes' Muggers. This was the one where Alain Goma had to be subbed early in the game after being shoved into the side rails. Ref Dunn decided that the Fulham lads were the villains and gave them 3 yellows to Everton's one!
2001/2002
16-02-2002 FA Cup Walsall 1-2 Fulham 4y 0r
Bookings: Byfield. Carbon. Matias (Walsall) Brevett (Fulham)
