Fulham boss Roy Hodgson insists it would take 'something special' for him to part with Jimmy Bullard or Brede Hangeland.

The duo have been reported as possible January transfer window targets for the Cottagers' capital rivals Arsenal.

Bullard has just 18 months left on his current deal at Craven Cottage and, with talks having broken down over an extension, has been linked with a host of other clubs. He is currently out with a groin problem.

Hangeland, meanwhile, has enjoyed a meteoric rise to prominence following his switch from FC Copenhagen 12 months ago.

While Hodgson accepts that he can do little to curb interest in his star men, he does hope that his high-flying squad will still be in one piece by the time the window slams shut on 2nd February.

"You always worry that bigger clubs are out there. We have to deal with it," he said.

"It would take something special for these players to move and I hope that something special doesn't happen."

Bullard is currently sidelined with a groin injury but Hodgson knows that is unlikely to put off potential suitors.

"It would be naïve to think we won't get any offers for Jimmy just because he is injured at the moment," he added.

"Look at Blackburn's Roque Santa Cruz, he's been injured yet he is still being linked with a move.

"Is Jimmy under the radar as he's not playing? That's not a bad thing but I'd prefer he was as he's one of our best players."
