Bryan Ruiz can add John Arne Riise to his growing band of admiring team-mates - the defender claiming the skilful Costa Rican has added a different dimension to Fulham's play this season.

Ruiz' introduction to Premier League football was none too encouraging. He had to be taken off at half-time on his debut against Blackburn in September because he looked so off the pace.

But his classy goal against Bolton, and the way he terrorised Arsenal last week, suggests Fulham are starting to see the best of Ruiz, who can further exorcise the spectre of that awful first taste of English football when he faces Rovers again at Ewood Park on Saturday.

"It's always going to take some time for him to get used to English football style and he had a hard start," Riise said.

"The first few games he was struggling a bit, but the last few weeks he's really come on. The Premier League is quite a high tempo and his passing and movement have been brilliant. He's bringing something new to our team and I've been very impressed."

Riise added: "He does make teams uncomfortable, even the best ones. He cuts inside, he goes back, he goes forward and he's good with the ball and always comfortable with it. He can make the killer pass too. He's been brilliant in the last few games."
