Fulham captain Scott Parker agreed a one-year contract extension with the club, keeping him at Craven Cottage until 2017.

The midfielder had been out of contract but Slavisa Jokanovic has decided that he needs the 35-year-old's voice in the dressing room.

Parker, who has made 94 appearances for the Whites since joining in 2013, was hampered by injury during the campaign but still pulled on the shirt 24 times and has now agreed a new deal.

The Fulham captain said: "I’m delighted to have signed an extension with the club.

“We are all confident that we can make next season a better one, so I do hope you’ll join me and the boys again at Craven Cottage for 2016/17."

Fulham endured a difficult season, finishing 20th, and Parker knows things must improve next year.

He added: “The games that stand out were the QPR games. We played pretty well but there's not much to say that it's been a good year or many highlights.

“It's been a pretty disappointing year for all of us. If there was one thing it'd probably be the QPR games.”

He went on: “It's been two years since we've been out of the Premier League and we've fallen short by some way.

“We need to learn from our mistakes and learn from what this league is about. The manager has a full pre-season to put his stamp on things and everyone can come back recharged and I'm sure, with a few changes, and we can give it a real good go.”
