Fulham manager Kit Symons named Lasse Vigen Christensen in his Fulham side for the FA Cup tie against Wolves - and lived to regret it.

The young midfielder, reportedly a target for Aston Villa, lasted barely a half hour before limping off in the 0-0 draw with the midlanders.

The manager was adamant he wasn't going to risk Christensen, but got beguiled by promising medical reports just 48 hours ago and took a gamble that backfired in a tie of few chances.

The manager said: "It's disappointing. I'm kicking myself a bit because I had ruled Lasse out completely and then on Thursday he was doing 75% training with the physios and they said he was absolutely fine.

"Yesterday we tested him at 100% and he was fine but in the first half he just felt something very, very slightly. So I wish I had stuck with my original plan but he hasn't done any more damage."

The original Fulham plan also came unstuck, with the only real Fulham opportunity wasted by Seko Fofana five minutes from the end.

The Manchester City loanee was through on goal, but could only fire tamely at Wolves keeper Carl Ikeme - and the chance went begging.

Symons explained: "We preached constantly to go low and hard across the goal, but (instead) we hit the side netting or went blazing over. Players who are normally quite clinical in those positions weren't today.

"Seko's a good young player who has done really well for us and I thought he looked a real threat today but maybe just lacked a bit of composure when he got in those forward positions. But the most important thing he is getting into these positions."
