A couple of defensive errors put a bit of a dampener on Fulham’s second successive 3-2 victory for Slavisa Jokanovic.

The Whites made hard work of their meeting with Nottingham Forest at Craven Cottage, but eventually prevailed thanks to strikes from Tom Cairney, Lucas Piazon and Jack Hobbs’ own goal.

“We didn’t play our best today,” Jokanovic admitted. “We didn’t play a brilliant game, but at the end after a very soft start to the game where we found some problems, we overcame this situation to win.

“These last two games at home we conceded four goals. Both teams put us in stressful situations without pushing us in the box to defend. We made mistakes and after this kind of situation it’s not easy for us.

“We need to do better in this kind of situation. I have to be happy with the last 10 minutes when they pushed and took the risk and sent on many strikers in the pitch. We were solid and strong enough to survive this.”

He continued: “We changed our tactic after 20-something minutes because it was very clear our plan didn’t work at the beginning. We weren’t good enough.

“With this change we found some benefits. It’s true, we’ve played some brilliant games and we could have more points than we have right now. But this is football and at the end I cannot complain, and I have to be ready for the next game that is in front of us.”

Neeskens Kebano again came off the bench to have a match-winning impact, and he was perhaps unfortunate that the deciding moment was accredited as an own goal.

“The last two games he’s been an important impact player,” Jokanovic stated. “He’s brought us four points.

“It’s important that on the back of the Africa Cup, he is working hard, he is fighting for a place in the team. He’s been with us half a year, and I believe in the future he can be an important player for us.”
