Despite the result, Fulham Coach Slavisa Jokanovic felt Fulham performed well at Pride Park on Tuesday night.

The Whites had by far the better of the play, but a number of defensive errors contributed to a 4-2 defeat.

“I believe my team played a very good football game tonight,” he stated. “From another side, we missed a little bit of experience to make the right decision in the right moment.

“In Spain they say it’s like ‘young wine.’ We need time to be a very good wine. In the end, we played very well, we are strong, but today we paid a very expensive price because we didn’t make enough good decisions in very important moments for us.

“We must stick all together and be strong, fighting until the end of the season. I believe my team play the best football, but we haven’t made enough good results at the moment.

“In these six games [left] we have to hit fifth gear and push hard to fight to be at the top of the table.

“For all [Derby’s] goals we could have reacted better. We scored two goals in an away game, but you can’t expect to score five goals to win the game.

“We played the offensive part of the game very well, we created many things. We finished two times and we could have finished some more. Today we played very well and we didn’t win the game, and we still need to play better.”

Asked where this leaves Fulham in the Play-Off picture, Jokanovic replied: “We need to still be confident, we need to push, we need to follow our style, and we definitely need to show a little bit more personality, character.

“Be brave, don’t be scared to be in the top-six. We will fight for this target.”
