Fulham boss Slavisa Jokanovic is well aware of the local bragging rights at stake on Friday night, but insists winning three points is all he’s concerned with.

Fulham visit Brentford looking for a first league win against the Bees since relegation, something that is currently occupying all of Jokanovic’s attentions.

“It’s a derby,” he stated. “I understand it’s a very important day for us, and for our supporters too. But in the end, it’s a fight for three points.

“I believe we are ready and we are finding our confidence. We’re in a good moment. It’s true [Brentford] played a good game against QPR in their last game, and they’re in a good moment of form too, like us.

“I understand all the sentiments, how our supporters feel in this moment. We want to take an important step against Brentford, but it’s a fight for three points.”

In the corresponding fixture last term, Scott Hogan netted twice in a 3-0 victory for the home side, and Jokanovic is wary of the striker who has eight goals to his name already this season.

“We have to be very careful about Hogan, about him running off the shoulder of our defenders, but I believe we are ready,” he explained. “Brentford play very good football. Last game they put in a very good performance.

“Hogan is a very important and a very dangerous player, a player with a lot of energy, but we have to be careful about the whole Brentford team, and be ready for everything that we’re going to find tomorrow night.

“They’re a similar team to last season. They know exactly what they want to do. They’re a very good team with some key players in the squad.”

A win for either side on Friday evening could potentially move them into the Play-Off positions, but Jokanovic is not giving a moment’s thought to anything other than the match itself.

“I am not talking about being a promoted team, I am not talking about the top-six,” he stated. “I am talking with my team about what is immediately in front of us.

“I’m going to repeat one time more; it’s a fight for three points. After the Brentford game, which is a very important game, we’re going to have 30 more games. It’s a chance for us to fight for 90 more points, and this is my plan.

“I am not talking about promotion, I am not talking about top-six, I am not talking about May, I am not talking about next season, I am thinking only about what is immediately in front of us. And that’s the Brentford game.”
