Fulham (3) 3-2 (1) Nottingham Forest

Until Wednesday night Ross McCormack had only scored seven goals for Fulham since his £11million summer move from Leeds.

But he entered double figures with a stunning 35-minute hat-trick that brought Nottingham Forest down to earth after their spectacular 2-1 win at rivals Derby on Saturday.

Boss Stuart Pearce had relieved the pressure on him amid memorable scenes in the East Midlands derby but he was left scratching his head after McCormack made it 3-0.

At least he would have been heartened by two Henri Lansbury goals setting up a grandstand finish as Forest showed their resolve.

But they could not handle McCormack. Just seven minutes were on the clock when the Scot got his first, beating Dorus de Vries with a powerful effort from Hugo Rodallega's flick.

On 18 minutes, it was 2-0 as McCormack scored a beauty from distance, the ball finding the net via the post.

Britt Assombalonga missed a fine chance to reduce the arrears at the other end as Kostas Stafylidis's header fell straight to him but he failed to beat Marcus Bettinelli.

Pearce took off Eric Lichaj but McCormack made it 3-0 with the aid of a deflection on 35 minutes.

Forest showed the type of mettle their boss displayed as a player when Lansbury scored a fine free-kick in first-half stoppage time and struck again on 62 minutes, driving home from Michail Antonio's pass.

And Forest should have levelled it up but Assombalonga missed a hatful of chances.
