Fulham striker Dimitar Berbatov was not the only player to depart Craven, with the club confirming the termination of their loan deal with QPR for Adel Taarabt.

Another move involving the west London neighbours saw 34-year-old defender Aaron Hughes move to Loftus Road on loan for the remainder of the season.

Philippe Senderos also departed Craven Cottage, joining Valencia on a permanent deal, which freed up space at the back for Everton's John Heitinga.

The 30-year-old Dutchman spent four-and-a-half years at Goodison Park, amassing 140 first-team appearances and scoring five goals.

However, Heitinga's playing time has been restricted to just five appearances this term and was allow to join Fulham on a free transfer, signing initially until the of the season.

"I'm really pleased to get the move completed and I'm looking forward to playing my first game," Heitinga said

"I think it's a good move for myself and I'm looking forward to meeting my team-mates.

"I've spoken already with Rene Meulensteen and I think it's the right club for me.

"This is a club with a great history and I always enjoyed playing at Craven Cottage, I really like it as a stadium. It's not one of the biggest but it's got something special."

Fulham's final business was officially confirmed in the early hours of Saturday morning.

Ryan Tunnicliffe and Larnell Cole both arrived from Manchester United for undisclosed fees and penned deals until the summer of 2017, with options for a further year.

Tunnicliffe spent time on loan at Peterborough United, Barnsley and, most recently, Ipswich, while Cole made his senior debut for United against Leeds in 2011.

Both players worked with Meulensteen during his time at Old Trafford and represented England at youth level.

The five deadline-day signings followed the loan addition of Stuttgart midfielder William Kvist, who joined until the end of the season on Thursday.
