Fulham striker Ross McCormack saved the rainy day at Bolton in a game overshadowed by the death of Jimmy Hill.

The Scot's hammer delivered the equaliser for his lucky 13th of the season, as the club only learned of the passing of the Fulham legend an hour before the game.

Black armbands were produced to honour the memory of a pioneer, not just at Fulham, but throughout football.

However, after taking the lead through Luke Garbutt, Whites were in danger of handing Bolton their first win in 16 matches when the home side took the lead in the second half.

Mac's goal saved away blushes, but his side are struggling to not only find a permanent coach - but any kind of form.

Garbutt also scored a stunner to silence the already morose Bolton fans when he let fly from 25 yards just before the half hour.

The on-loan Everton player shunted up to left wing was the grateful recipient of a McCormack back heel after the Whites hitman nicked the ball off a dithering Prince Gouano to score his first goal in two years.

Fulham sensed a club in strife was there for the taking and Alex Kacaniklic on the right opened his body to fire and thump the top of the bar.

Striker in form Moussa Dembélé was then clean through from a poor Bolton back pass only to place his shot just an inch wide of the upright.

Whatever they put in the Bolton tea at half time needs global distribution.

Wanderers came out of the traps and dominated the early exchanges before Zac Clough fired the equaliser just past the hour.

It was all the more gutting after Kacaniklic had nearly made it 2-0 a minute before but was denied by the heroics of keeper Ben Amos.

It got worse when Clough put Bolton ahead for the first time and then grabbed a second from close range.

But when a side has McCormack - it has hope.

In the same way the the Whites leading scorer found the net against Ipswich in Tuesday, he repeated the feat from distance that proved a crumb of consolation for the loyal west Londoners who made the journey north.
