Wigan winger Luis Antonio Valencia faces a spell out after undergoing knee surgery.
The Ecuador international has been struggling with a knee problem for some time and the club decided to send him under the knife.
The 22-year-old is expected to be sidelined for up to a month with the problem.
Latics boss Chris Hutchings hopes the surgery will finally clear up the injury for Valencia.
"Specialists decided the knee joint needed flushing out and the cartilage trimmed," Hutchings told The Sun.
Wigan are also sweating over the fitness of Jason Koumas ahead of this weekend's clash with Fulham after he was forced out of Wales' win in Slovakia with a foot injury.
