Trends behind - Fulham v Tottenham

last updated Monday 30th January 2006, 7:48 PM
Fulham are 13th with 26 points
and their highest achievable position
after Match Day 24 is 11th while
the lowest could be 15th.
  • FULHAM welcome London rivals Tottenham to the Cottage for their 100th Premiership match since Chris Coleman took permanent charge. They've won 33 of the previous 99.
  • The Cottagers are playing successive London derbies, having lost 2-1 at West Ham last time out. Fulham's record in top flight cross-capital clashes this term is unimpressive. They've lost five of six and not won any. Their only point came from a 1-1 draw, against Charlton at the Valley. Five of the six have been away from home. Fulham's best work though has been on home territory where they've secured 23 of their 26 points to date. Having said that they were at the Cottage when another London side, League Two Leyton Orient, knocked them out of the FA Cup at the third round stage.
  • The Thames-side club are chasing a fourth consecutive home Premiership victory over Spurs. Last season the White Hart Lane club were in freefall when they visited the Cottage and lost to a Luis Boa Morte strike and Andrew Cole header.
  • Last suffered back-to-back defeats in the Premiership, when Tottenham (a) and Manchester United (h) defeated them on 26 September and 1 October. Since when they've completed 15 League fixtures.
  • Gained 20 more Premiership points at home than away - the widest such dichotamy in the Premiership.
  • Conceded four times in stoppage time. Only Middlesbrough have shipped more after 90 top flight minutes have passed on the clock (six).
  • Scored 12 goals in the first half hour of top tier matches - only Arsenal can equal that.
  • Gone 13 highest League encounters since a win by more than one goal (2-0, home to Liverpool on 22 October).
  • Completed 20 top division contests since a loss by more than a solitary goal margin (4-1, away to Arsenal on 24 August).
  • Undefeated in seven home Premiership games.
  • Won six of the last seven League games at the Cottage, including the last two.
  • Claimed 19 points from a possible 21 at home, since losing 2-3 to Manchester United on 1 October.
  • Failed to score in only one home League game this season - 0-0 against Birmingham on the opening day, 13 August
  • If he plays, Alain GOMA will be making his 150th English League appearance (Newcastle and Fulham).
  • If involved, Niclas JENSEN will be making his 50th top flight appearance (Manchester City and Fulham).
  • If he lines up for the opening whistle, Moritz VOLZ will be making his 100th start for an English club.
LAST SEASON'S CORRESPONDING GAME - 30 October 2004

Fulham 2-0 Tottenham
Tottenham are 4th with 41 points
and their highest achievable position
after Match Day 24 is 3rd while
the lowest could could be 4th
  • TOTTENHAM HOTSPUR are keen to get back into winning ways after two defeats and a draw in the last three League and Cup games, and no goals in two. This is Martin Jol's 50th Premiership match since he was appointed permanently at White Hart Lane. Spurs have won 22 of the previous 49.
  • Only a clear five goal victory would be good enough to lift Spurs above Liverpool into third place in the table. They've only won one of their last four away League games and four of the last 20 on their travels. Last time out, Jol's team were held to a goalless scoreline at the Lane by the Premiership's fellow draw specialists Aston Villa - both have finished level in eight of their 23 outings. Tottenham are looking for their 12th League maximum of the season. Their record in London Premiership derbies this season is won two, drawn two and lost one.
  • An early strike from Jermain Defoe was enough to give Spurs victory in a tight reverse fixture in September. It was Tottenham's second successive victory over Fulham - both on home territory. They've not won on Fulham turf since March 2002, but maximum points this time would give them a first 'double' over the Cottagers since 2001/02 and an eighth over them since League hostilities began in 1908.
  • Played fewer League and Cup matches than any other Premiership club this season (25).
  • The last three Premiership matches have resulted in a win, a loss and a draw in that order.
  • Picked up one point from the last six available, having lost at Liverpool, and been held to a goalless draw at home by Aston Villa.
  • Won six of the last 10 Premiership matches.
  • Won four away Premiership matches this season (against Portsmouth, Charlton, Wigan and Manchester City).
  • Lost three League games on the road (at Bolton, West Brom and Liverpool).
  • Goalkeeper Paul ROBINSON is the only remaining player to have featured in every minute of everyone of Tottenham's Premiership matches this season.
  • If he plays, Michael CARRICK will be making his 50th Premiership appearance for Spurs.
