The Everton and England striker appeared to exchange strongly-worded views with a supporter after tumbling over an advertising board during his side's 2-1 FA Cup fourth-round replay defeat at Loftus Road.
The 18-year-old had sprinted to prevent the ball going out of play in the first-half but fell into the crowd and was helped back up.
Television cameras then caught Rooney's exchange with the man but referee Paul Durkin did not react and the incident was therefore not reported to police.
The striker has already developed a reputation for having a quick temper and he was frustrated by Fulham last night as Everton lost in extra time by a Steed Malbranque winner.
