Premiership midweek game schedule 23:24.04.02

last updated Thursday 25th April 2002, 12:25 AM
Fulham returned to Craven Cottage on Tuesday for Premiership action and obtained their best result of their season with a 3-0 thrashing of Bolton .

It was a night of celebration at Craven Cottage as Fulham mathematically secured their survival and sparked dreams of an Intertoto Cup campaign.

Bolton were a sad excuse for a squad and if they had been half decent in the first half they could have put Fulham away as we did not play well. However after Bjarne showed everyone the way to the goal Fulham appeared to be a class above Bolton.

T wo fine goals in four minutes late on wrapped up the three-point haul, taking the Cottagers out of reach of third-bottom Ipswich and level on points with fellow Intertoto hopefuls Everton.

Steve Marlet scored number two with a majestic 72nd-minute curler - and Barry Hayles proved Fulham really have rediscovered their scoring touch when he raced clear and fired past the helpless Jussi Jaaskelainen four minutes later.

The Trotters Manager may have achieved a creditable Premiership placing for his club but he was shown quite clearly the difference money can make.
