Fulham have made Switzerland international Pascal Zuberbuhler their third addition to the club’s goalkeeping ranks this summer.
The 37-year-old has been on trial with The Cottagers in recent weeks and has done enough to earn a deal from former Swittzerland manager Roy Hodgson.
Zuberbuhler – who had a brief spell with West Brom in the 2006-2007 season – will now act as understudy to Mark Schwarzer for the coming season.
“I’m very happy to sign for Fulham,” Zuberbuhler said. “I’ve already spent three weeks with the team and we have a very good squad for the new season.
“I know the club had a very hard season last year, but I’m confident that this season it will be much, much better. I’m coming here to be successful.”
His arrival looks certain to spell the end of Antti Niemi’s time at the club as Hodgson has also recruited young keeper David Stockdale this summer.
“I know also the situation here with the goalkeepers,” Zuberbuhler added. “I’ve known Mark Schwarzer for a long time and played against him in the past. I know he’s the number one, but I’m here to give my best so that, in the end, the team is successful.
“That’s my mentality. If I sign a contract with a club I want to be successful. I want to do everything possible to help Fulham have a good season – that’s my number one aim.”

Fulham Football Club has today completed the signing of Swiss international goalkeeper, Pascal Zuberbuhler, on a year’s contract.
The 37-year-old goalkeeper played in Switzerland’s final group match of the Euro 2008 championship against Portugal and has made 51 appearances for his country.
Zuberbuhler made his senior debut for Grasshoppers in 1992 and made 187 appearances for the club during a seven year spell before moving to FC Basel in 1999.
He joined West Bromwich Albion in 2006 before moving back to Switzerland to sign for Neuchatel Xamax.
