Fulham Football Club have announced that since the tragic death of Johnny Haynes in October, the Club has been in the process of consulting with fans regarding a lasting tribute to the Maestro at Craven Cottage.

Many suggestions were received by the Club including a redesign of the Cottage gates, and the retirement of the No 10 shirt. However the two suggestions that were overwhelmingly popular consisted of re-naming a stand and the erection of a statue in his honour, with the naming of a stand ultimately receiving the most votes.

Therefore, after much consideration regarding the most appropriate tribute, a decision has been made and it gives the Club great pleasure to inform you that the Stevenage Road stand shall be re-named: The Johnny Haynes Stand.

The Stevenage Road Stand is steeped in history and as a listed building is protected by English Heritage and the Club itself, it is also a stand that Johnny played in front of time and time again during his illustrious career so is the most appropriate of any stand to carry his name.

A formal naming of the stand is planned along with a memorial service further details of which will be made available as soon as possible.
