NATIONWIDE LEAGUE champions Fulham are leading Aston Villa and Borussia Dortmund in the chase to sign Fiorentina defender Tomas Repka, according to sources in Italy.

The versatile Czech Republic international is one of a number of Viola players reportedly ready to quit the club this summer following a season of unrest at the Artemio Franchi.

Francesco Toldo and Rui Costa are both expected to move on, leaving new coach Roberto Mancini with a huge summer rebuilding job ahead of his first full season in charge.

27-year-old Repka has caught Jean Tigana's attention with his impressive performances, while Villa and Dortmund are also keeping tabs on the situation.

With Mohammed Al-Fayed's millions behind the newly-promoted Cottagers, Fulham are considering a number of reinforcements ahead of the 2001/2002 campaign.

Repka, formerly with Banik Ostrava and Sparta Prague, is renowned as a reliable man-marker. He missed Euro 96 through suspension but is a key figure for his country.
