Despite being a tough nut to crack, it is worth noting that Fulham have yet to win away from home in the league this season.
It promises to be a competitive match at the Stadium of Light with Roy Hodgson’s side having managed to score on every visit to Sunderland, while the hosts are unbeaten in their last four matches against the Londoners.
Sunderland can find themselves in the bottom three with a defeat and other results going against them, so boss Ricky Sbragia will be looking for big performances from his strike-force of Kenwyne Jones and Djibril Cisse who were rested against Blackburn in the FA Cup.
The towering Jones has scored in both of his Premier League outings against Fulham and he maybe handily supplied by former Cottager, Steed Malbranque, who leads the way in assists this season at Sunderland.
Dean Whitehead and El-Hadji Diouf are also likely to return to the Sunderland starting Xl having also been rested last Saturday and Teemu Tainio is available after serving a one-match ban.
Fulham have no fresh injury concerns with Hodgson likely to reunite Andrew Johnson and Bobby Zamora in attack having employed Clint Dempsey in a centre forward role during their 4-2 win against Kettering.
Prediction: 1-1
