FULHAM have failed to land Czech international Tomas Ujfalusi after Fiorentina escaped the drop in Italy’s match-fix scandal.
Boss Chris Coleman bid £4million for the 28-year-old defender.
But the deal collapsed when the Florence club were reinstated on appeal to Serie A on Tuesday.
However, Coleman is set to complete the signing of Middlesbrough full-back Franck Quedrue.
Coleman met the Frenchman for talks during Fulham’s pre-season tour of Austria.
Quedrue, 27, trained with the squad this week after agreeing terms on a four-year contract.
Coleman said: “Franck’s here and we’re close to doing the deal. We’re not 100 per cent there yet but fingers crossed there shouldn’t be any problems and we’ll have him signed.”
