Fulham's injury list increasing

last updated Friday 05th January 2001, 7:18 AM
FULHAM’S problems are mounting as they prepare to take on Manchester United in the FA Cup third round on Sunday.

Already without Chris Coleman, who faces at least nine months out of the game after shattering his right leg in a car crash on Tuesday night, the Nationwide League first division team could be without at least three more senior players. Sean Davis, the midfield player, is suspended and Lee Clark, the £3 million signing from Sunderland, is doubtful because of an Achilles’ heel problem that required a scan yesterday. Barry Hayles is also likely to be missing through injury.

The club is still coming to terms with the seriousness of Coleman’s injuries. The Wales defender will certainly not be attending the Cup tie on Sunday; he is still in the early stages of recovering from breaking his right leg in three places after crashing his Jaguar.

“All the lads have been very down since we heard,” Maik Taylor, the goalkeeper, said. “He is a big part of our team here but we have to pick ourselves up for a big match on Sunday and rally round and try and get over it.''
