Foy is Man in the Middle

last updated Friday 06th February 2004, 10:22 AM
Christopher Foy - St Helens
Ex-Lancashire policeman Christopher Foy started refereeing in 1983, became a Football League referee in 1994 and graduated to the Barclaycard Premiership roster in 2001.

Foy is now in his third full season as a Premier League referee. He only took charge of five matches in his debut season, but dished out 19 yellow cards and 1 red.

Referee Stats - 2003/2004
Ref Foy is starting to soften up as so far this season he is average or below on whistling and card issuing. Not that he has been as savage as some of his colleagues but in the last two seasons he was one of the busiest card issuers in the Premiership.

He is unusual in that he is one of just three or four Ref's who have not issued a red card this season. So far .....

Ref Foy does not exhibit any serious signs of being a Homer unlike Mr Winter who still thinks it is quite normal for 75% of his yellow cards to go to the away team.

Ref Foy's appearances in Fulham games have been few and far between and so far there have been no major errors to be held against him, as far as Fulham is concerned.

2003/2004

04-10-2003 Premier Fulham 2-0 Leicester
Bookings: Goma , Knight (Fulham) Impey (Leicester)
Ref Foy made numerous petty and hard to understand decisions during the game, a number were against Fulham in dangerous areas around the penalty area. Fortunately Leicester were so poor that they were not able to take advantage of Foy's generousity.
