Portsmouth manager Harry Redknapp has revealed that Amdy Faye's proposed move to Fulham fell through because the Senegal star failed a fitness test.
It was originally reported that the 27-year-old had failed to agree terms with the Cottagers but the Pompey manager has said Faye has a knee injury.
"I have already lost Alexei Smertin and now I have lost Amdy Faye," said Redknapp.
"He has got a knee injury which is a massive blow.
"He failed a medical at Fulham. He played for Senegal in the summer and he has come back with a knee injury.
"I didn't want to sell him and so we were happy he didn't go, but now the knee doesn't look too good and he is going to see a specialist but it looks like he will be out for a while, that is for sure."
