Another article on USM and there dodgy practices https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-6390581/Football-agent-Salthouse-cashed-introducing-bookmaker-players.html ..mentions he has two chairmen in his camp ( I believe the clubs are FFC and Palace) I think Slav going was not only becuas f results but also because Kahns want to start distancing themselves from USM It would seem Mackintosh was also kept out of recruitment as he was unaware that Slav was being replacd as late as monday

But l was worried it was not working this season a don’t blame the khans for making this sad move. I have always liked Ranieri and hopefully he ca do a good job for Fulham all us fans can do is get behind him and cheer the team we love COYW

Reading through the posts regarding the new manager it never seems to amaze me that some posters rush to be the first ones to post negative comments. They think this board is all about being controversial. Of course everyone on here has a right to have an opinion, comments like “can’t see this working” “Pearson done all the work” and many more. The thing is if we would have kept Slav and we got relegated these same people would be saying “should have got rid of him earlier”. Could have got Ranieri”. Let’s give the new Manager our full support and wish SJ all the best in the future.

Benvenuto au prossimi Campioni 2019/10. At last a Manager with Premiership experience. One hope that Mr Kahn Junior will now listen to him and buy players that have premiership experience and can cpmplete at the highest level. This gentleman will walk otherwise and we cannot afford that to happen to our club. DO NOT expect miracles, but we can only improve. Sorry about SJ but we cannot live in this league on promise of better things to come. SIGN at least four good defenders in January and we may have a chance of playing in this league next season! Andreas Christensen at Chelsea may be available on loan!

It now transpires that Jokanovic didn’t actually pick the new players he advised the hierarchy the areas he felt needed improving and the players were imposed on him .Well that answers the question why he changed formations so much ( apart for the injuries ! ) Ranieri will have to work miracles to make Anguissa , Fonsu- Mesah , Mawson , Le Marchant and Seri into Premiership players . I am unable to make a judgement on Bryan because he has been injured virtually since he signed apart from a cameo appearance at Millwall .

Salary isn’t the same as talent and skill isn’t a substitute for heart. If he’s smart, Ranieri will learn from the Liverpool match. Sess playing in attack, Chambers in defensive midfield. If Macca is healthy, he should partner Chambers. Would love to see Odoi at left back with Ream and Mawson playing in the middle, Le Marchand isn’t a Prem player. If he doesnt learn from Slavs mistakes, we’ll keep losing till we hire Magath!

With so many away for international duty, is Ranieri gonna hold practices by conference call the next week and a half? Talk about about a tough spot he’s been put in. Will Mitro be professional or will he sulk now? Lots of questions to be asked and answered. Wish Joka a great career and will always support Fulham no matter who’s the manager or what league we’re in.

That's an easy one. Ranieri will tell all our squad that every position is up for grabs, so go out and earn it. And while he's about it, kick Seri up the khazi.

Ranieri a lucky manager Tubde (guest? John' i wouldn't give credit to Pearson whatsoever! Ranieri waltz into Leicester under an old age pensioner banner, and nobody gave him a cat in hells chance of winning anything. To win a prem title is a special thing, and i really feel that it is much more than luck. Ranieri should have won it also with Chelsea. Here are some interesting facts about Ranieri: Ranieri actually scouted and recommended Drogba, Robben, and Petr Chech. Chelsea signed these 3 giants after Ranieri was sacked. Mourinho was the lucky one, he benefited for Ranieri handing him the title on a plate. The special one not! Abramovich was appointed 1 year into Chelsea after Ken Bates, and he really didn't give Ranieri enough time to finish the job. Players like Melchiot was one of Ranieri's and he would struggle in this Fulham side. I won't bother harping on about the big ones like Lampard too easy. Gerami, Mutu, he was trouble. Glen Johnson, Wayne Bridge etc. These guys are the average signings that would struggle in this Fulham side. Trust me, guys like Pearson could not walk into a club and win anything with these players. Management is a lot more complicated than that. I guarantee you that players like Chambers, Marchand, Seri, etc, they will benefit and improve for Ranieri. I don't know what it is about Italian managers, but they have something different, Ranieri has charm, he is gentle, a good motivator, and he likes to tell little stories and fairy-tales. What happened to Leicester 2nd season after winning the title, was typical really. Nobody expected them to win it again, but they should have finished top 8. The Leicester players after all the euphoria were less motivated wich is understandable. They stopped listening to Ranieri's fairy-tales and they were not switched on 2nd time. Ryan Sessegnon will be the perfect son that Ranieri can mold into a great player. Tom Cairney will benefit also. Tom Cairney will be our Pirlo with Ranieri. This is an exciting time in our history folks' and judging from Khan's post, he expects and wants more than just to survive in this prem. Why is Khan getting bad press on here? Chelsea have been ruthless with managers, but they win titles. Khan has big ambitions for Fulham. Let's buckle up, and start a new chapter. We are in the premiership! Ranieri's contract is 1 year +. If i am wrong and talking rubbish? Khan will roll in the next manager no problem! Give Ranieri some respect! He won the Premiership and just as Brian Clough did with small clubs like Forrest and Derby, we can be successful too. Not saying we will win prem, because Man City and all the big boys, are just too rich and powerful. Our goal is to settle and do well in the prem, and then we build from there. Watch us take Southampton apart, then some will say' how come the new guys are so good? Managers like Ranieri can do and will do special things. COME ON FULHAM NOW!!!!!!!

Owen, there is a lot wrong with the club. It's not just down to Slav who I am sorry to see go but in the end he had to over some of the very strange decisions he made. Khan is getting bad press and deservedly so. SJ was sacked to try and save face of Tony Khan and his redicuolous transfer policy. If a coach comes to this club and agrees that the transfers are out of his control then that says volumes of the person. Ranieri needs support and I'm sure he'll get it from us as the majority knew it was the end for Slav but once again with Khans inept transfer policy it will be a very hard task! I'm fed up listening to the press say we spent £100M on players. We spent £100M ON POOR PLAYERS! (Except Mitro)They've had a chance. They haven't been asked to do something extra ordinary except play football! Hopefully I'm wrong and they have a bit more to their game. Look at Khans signings last season. Rui Fonte, Kamara, Cisse, Djalo, Mool, Soares, Jordan Graham, Ojo, Norwood, Christie. We had Ojo, Kamara and Norwood play bit parts the rest? (and Mitro was a Slav signing) Target was a good signing but we were after a left back for 2 seasons! Look at the signings this year. Seri (started well but now nothing), Angussia (the biggest waste of money ever), Mitro (Slav), Mawson (potential), Joe Bryan (late panic buy after Target deal failed and not proven at this level), La Marchand (terrible distribution but best we have at present which is why we are so poor), Schurrle (luxury player), Vietoo (slightly better Piazon that can't finish), Chamber (don't go there), Fosu-Mensah (not liked at Palace). Now look at our squad and tell me who is a true premiership player? Rico? Mitro, Sess and Cairney. That's it! We needed a new manager but we also need Tony Khan to this manager deal with the transfers and build their own team. 2.5 years of bad transfers before he got it right in the championship. As it is for most of the players, Slav and Khan. They are out of their depth in the premiership.

Terry' you might be right about some of the newbies and some might not be good enough in general. Ranieri will give each one a clean slate. 9 times out of 10, a lot of players will play for their lives. I am intrigued about 1 player in particular? We will see what Ranieri does with Kamara. Ranieri speaks French and a few more languages, and maybe just maybe, he will get something out of Kamara. If not, he and a few more will be gone in January. Kamara has raw pace, but he doesn't know how to channel it properly. Look at Stirling for City? He couldn't shoot for peanuts, and now under Guardiola, he looks a million dollars. Well' 3 hundred thousand big ones. Let's see what the thinker/tinker/ man see's in these rejects. We could be looking out from the terraces in a few weeks at AK-47, AND THINK 'WOW'! Terry' you could be wearing the 'AK-47 Tee-shirt in your local soon. Watch this space!!!!!

Owen there seems to be another Terry posting on this site, the latest post/posts by Terry is not me, I haven’t posted for days until now. I’m of the opinion that SJ gave us some great times during his stay but there is nothing any of us fans can do if the owner decides to release him and bring in Claudio. It is ironic that the first player he signed for Chelsea was SJ. One of Ranieri’s comments when asked what sort of football he plays was I don’t want to play keep the ball all the time, I want my team to play football at the speed of light and my strikers to be like jet fighters. Enter AK.
posted by Terry (Guest) - Wednesday 14th November 2018, 8:57 PM

And Ranieri is appointed as manager, not head coach, so he will now have a say in the transfer market. Plus his managerial experience at EPL level is galaxies away from Jok and FFC deserve him at this time. Nevertheless, I hope Jok finds another position, as he did turn our team around last season to get promoted, and he has my respect for that. I see Ranieri as being able to turn our season round like Hodgson did for Palace last season, providing we play as well or better than we did at Liverpool the rest of the season.

For sure there were always going to changes after the run we've had. Once Khan had given Slav a massive vote of confidence 2 weeks ago it was end game of course. But this doesn't feel quite like saying goodbye to Jol Hughes Mcgath or KIt, who for different reasons weren't up to it, and it was a relief when they went. Slav had something those guys didn't. Those of us at Anfield on Sunday will have noticed a section of the fans chanting his name..I wont be the only one just a little sad to see the big man go!

Delighted! Slavisa did us proud but he has no PL experience and has lost his way. Ranieri will be able to get our players to bond and play together as a team. The Kahn’s gave SJ a chance but it was never going to work. For the sake of Fulham staying in the PL they did the right thing.

It’s been said before, but this feels like the Meulensteen firing. Manager finally arrives at an approach and a team and gets sacked. Slavisa has had no Joe Bryan, no Cairney, an injured Ream, a suspended Odoi, no right back, injuries to Mawson and now Macca. And a team of mercenaries and flair players, like we had under Jol. He is the fall guy for a summer of horrendous signings by the scouting and analystics team. I agree it did take him too long to realize that a 4-2-3-1 with 2 defensive midfielders was the only way to play the big boys. He was wrong to break up the team’s solidarity by choosing pedigree over passion and cohesion. But now we are truly a team without an identity. I still think we have the wrong players - Vietto, Fabri, Le Marchand, even Schurrle — I’d trade them for a right and left back in a second.

Good post, Ranieri certainly needs to be a luckier "manager" (not coach) than SJ. I've read a comment that Seri & Anguissa didn't become bad players overnight, no they've been shockingly bad, gutless & clueless for months ! In Anguissa's case every time he's worn a Fulham shirt. To be fair they aren't the only ones ( thankfully Fosu Mensah is only a loanee ). Let's hope claudio does pick new players & MANAGE the team !

How many managers would decline an extention to their contract when offered. After gaining promotion, I believe Slavisa was trying to make it easier for a bigger club to come in for him. If he really believed in what was happening at the club, he would have signed. That is my opinion, others may not agree.

Personally I would like to have Nigel Pearson teaming up with Steve Walsh. Those two laid the groundwork at Leicester for Ranieri's success. Walsh includes Riyad Mahrez, Jamie Vardy and N'Golo Kanté amongst the players he scouted & took to Leicester. Ranieri was clever enough to build on this. So a good choice (rather than Sam, Pardew etc.) and I hope he can get the players on his side.

I think we have to be fair to Ranieri. if a manager get crucified and the sack for turning a good team or even a bad team into bad one in 5-10 games, we should give the manager credit for turning a good team into an amazing team over 38 games!! so we can't give all credit to Nigel Pearson.

Personally, I didn't have a communication issue, I understood every word Slavisa spoke. The communication is much more pronounced among team mates with several not speaking any English at all.

Pochetino didn't speak a word of English for a season and a half and Bielsa doesn't speak English yet but Spurs and Leeds seem to do all right.

You should get out more and stop being so xenophobic....

Slavisa doesn't speak French and Seri doesn't speak any English or any languages Slavisa speaks - you saying there's no communication issue between them? let's be clear - Potechino (assume you mean the spurs boss) didn't English to the press for 18 months and I assume he didn't wake up one morning and able to speak fluent English.

Once again the media win and Mr Khan gives in, I'd much rather he'd found his son another toy to play with and let football people run the club. We now have the absurd player power situation where they can down tools and get the manager/coach fired because their jobs are safe between transfer windows. I hate the bloody things, they've pushed transfer fees through the roof and taken the game backwards in my view.

Welcome Claudio. Goodbye and thank you Slavisa for some great times and restoring our faith. Many on this board predicted we were heading for Div 1. Slavisa left because Khan wants to keep PL and anyone with £200m invested would have made that decision. He didn’t know our best team and couldn’t organise our defence. We were heading down. Now we have a proven manager who will turn us around if this group of players are good enough and want it enough. Worst that happens is we start again next season in the fun league. The only persons the PL matters to are owner, manager and players. We stay whatever.

SJ was fired because he gained 5 points in 12 games and conceded a record number of goals in all top five leagues in Europe.

Need I remind you that we shipped four to Cardiff who hadn't won a game all season - the most humiliating defeat of all and then lost to a team that had not scored a goal all season and we went and did it for them.

Mawson, Chambers, Seri, Anguissa, et al did not suddenly become bad players overnight! They were all good players who Slavisa played either out of position or in the wrong formation.

Slavisa didn't pick the same team two games running and made close to 80 changes of player in the 12 games leading up to his dismissal.

What in the hell did the Khans have to do with any of that??

Only one person got Jokanovic fired and that was himself who could not decide on his best midfield and best defence. What other team has played three goalkeepers in 12 games this season; the only constant in our team and squad was Mitro his love child who, lets fact it, has hardly been "on fire" for the last six or seven games.

Get real Will!

The Khans have nothing to do with all the changes by SJ. Can't argue that point. The results against Cardiff & H Town was abysmal. Players should be ashamed showing no fight in most of the games this season. If TK is responsible for signing new players then clearly he needs help!!!!!!!! Most of FFC new signings over the last couple of years where are they now?? I wish FFC & CR good luck. Funny most thought the game against LFC would be an embarrassment, but the players grew a PAIR Why they knew SJ was on the way out. shame on them!!!!!! What ever your / my or anyones opinion is we all hope for FFC to be success.

apart from the painfully obvious 5pt from 12 games,in what position did S.J play? If he had no input in the players purchased ,then how can you say its his fault. If you give a man a wooden axe and tell him to chop down a tree, its not his fault that it dont work.I have not yet met anyone who admits to making a cock up ,especialy bosses, they will look round to shift the blame on someone else.

My initial thoughts upon reading and hearing this on the radio was that it was pretty much a like for like replacement and all it would do was upset the players who have been with us for some time and cure nothing.

Having thought about it however, I think the key word in the press release is "MANAGER". Ranieri has been appointed Manager on a long term contract and that for me means that possibly the Khan's have learned their lessons and will now leave the managing of the club to a man with experience and knowledge of the Premier League. Yes TK will still be in charge of recruitment and contracts but I believe that Ranieri will choose the players he wants rather than just the positions he needs to fill like Jokanovic.

Slavisa will always be a demi-God to us fans in much the same way that Tiggy and Woy are but it is the right time for him to step down and still hold kudos with the fans. I know we are all proud of his achievements on a tight budget.

I cannot see an immediate recovery coming because in my opinion our squad is just not good enough but Ranieri will certainly sure up the defence pretty quickly and I believe that we will stop shipping goals in the manner that we have (four against Cardiff being my low point).

Unfortunately, I am overseas on business for the Southampton game but will keep my ears close to the radio to follow the game. One thing I do not expect though, is miracles and my mind has not changed that a draw will be a good result and a start to our recovery (given that we have Chelsea and Man Utd away to follow).

You can't eat an elephant all at once so Ranieri will need time and money to turn this monster around but one things is definitely for sure - we are no worse off with Claudio than Slavisa so onwards and upwards.

COYSW!

When they decided to sack Meulanstein who was still trying to find his best team it was apparently after losing a match we were expected to win i.e. S.Wed in Cup despite improvement in an unlucky game against Liverpool. Then look what followed.
My only concern with Ranieri aka The Tinkerman is he got this name at Chelsea where he had a big squad to choose from and made many changes week after week.
He will probably be encouraged to use more of the Summer shower most of which along with the ref have cost Joka his job

My opinion is Mawson and Ream or Le Marchant at centre back and Odoi at left back until Bryan is fit. Get Moses in January to replace Mensah

Keep blaming Tony Khan if you must but a manager who puts up with trying to win with another man's picks is just a trainer not a manager. I think Khan bought some good players preseason but so little time to get them playing together - what did we expect? The problem has been Joka's insistence on playing what he thinks is pure football and he couldn't pull it off. A great bloke no doubt leaving us with good memories of him but brought down by his own inflexibility. Never impressed with the managerial dross currently seeking new jobs, I think with Ranieri, we have as good a chance as any to recover. I'm 81 in January so coming up to my 75th year as a Fulham man. I knew this exact thing would happen, brilliant performance against a Liverpool side competing for the premier league title and get sacked, rather than after any other bad performances, hope that referee can sleep well at night basically hammering the nail in the coffin for joka’s job. That being said Ranieri would be a good fit at Fulham. There was no loyalty the last time we were in the premier league so I suspect the squad will look completely different every season we stay in the prem when we want to build a team that can compete at this level.

really sad to see Jokanovic go!! he brought the best football I've seen at the club and the ride he led last year was truly amazing and memorable! I only wished he had more luck and continue to lead us in the premier league. he will also welcome back and I hope he gets another chance in the big league - he deserves it!! THANK-YOU SLAVISA JOKANOVIC!

Thanks Jokanovic. Absolutely fantastic football over the last couple of seasons. It just goes to show the implications of poor reffing because if that Clown on Sunday had the guts to give the right decision on Sunday then Slav would still be in a job. As for Ranieri, he got lucky at Leicester that Pearson laid all the groundwork. I’m not sure he’s equipped for the situation he’s working into this time.

Jokanovic did a great job and I would have given him two more games to turn things round - as Shearer and others said on the Beeb. He has been unlucky with injuries, especially TC, Ream, MacDonald, Manson et al, had to put up with diabolical refereeing decisions - Palace, Liverpool, but he was also a bit naive in thinking we could simply replicate our Championship football in the PL. We played well at Liverpool and the signs were that things were turning round. Rainieri is a brilliant manager of people - the way he took the pressure off the title winning Leicester players was superb - and he knows the game and the PL. So in principle a good appointment. But does he have the energy, desire and commitment to prove himself again in the PL.?Time will tell. At least we might be able to understand what the manager thinks as he us a better English speaker than the monotone Jokanovic! But hats off to Jokanovic - he did a terrfic job with Fulham and the Wembley play off win was the best day out I have ever experienced in following FFC for 60 years. It was epic.

How many times bookies favourite ever gets the job!! Bookies make so much money from Pardrew, Allardyce, Harry (although a bit difficult now he’s in the jungle), Bruce, etc etc! It’s a good little earner for the bookies around this time every year! Only way to get their Christmas bonus! So don’t believe any of it!
