Just where could our Jack end up? What do you guys think about him? Good for Fulham, or not? I think we probably will have a good chance of securing his services considering where we are on location. I can't see Wiltshire venturing up north. I would be worried about his fitness, and why does he get injured so often? Could we improve his fitness and get him playing regular football every week at Fulham? I was thinking about Grealish to be honest, but Wiltsheres situation is that he is available on a free, and that might be music to the chairman's ears. I wouldn't mind Wiltshere coming on board, and it would be interesting to pair him up with the likes of Cairney and Johansen in midfield. There is one bit of good news if we get Wiltshire, and that simply means that Fulham can invest harder into the transfer market for a top striker to go with Mitrovic. Freebie Wiltshire could be viable option for us. Bring it on i say...

Just wondering who we could go for if Mitro doesn't come for that sort of money. Fellani is a free agent but are we to small? just wonder what sort of a player we could attract as the lure of London has always been big attraction with a transfer to a young man with wife and earning lots of money as if you are earning £100K+ you want to be in Paris, Madrid , Munich ,Rome or London. Manchester ,Liverpool or Newcastle are great places for a weekend but cant compare with true great cities of the world which London is.

Fellini is a dirty player - we don’t want that at Fulham. Even if he cut that out, he’s too slow and cannot play the fluid football we want. He does more back passes than forward. We dont want to play the high balls he wants. He’s perfect for mourinho football so let’s not break up third perfect marriage of destructive football!

As nothing much seems to be happening at FFC - at least not reported - time to take a break and assess England's chances of progressing out of their group. Our last minute victory against Tunisia should see us progress to the last sixteen, as Panama are beatable whatever our team, and our match against Belgium would just be fight for group leaders. If Southgate was any half-decent manager he should ring the changes against Belgium - but will he? In the last 16 either of the qualifiers matched against us are beatable so we'll make the quarters - and that's it. I can't see us beating any of those qualifying teams in E or F, they're too experienced and we're not anywhere near them. Based on our game yesterday, we'll be slaughtered if we don't up our game plan.

Forget 20 mill or 15 mill, we will get 3-6 million players if we are lucky, and some loans, we are already looking !!!looking at players who start out at 3-6 million then as we look at them and that's all we will do they become 15-20 mill, thats a game we aint getting in to .

I totally agree with you MST, as I was about to post a similar report as you. Mr Khan said a lot, but actually said nothing. We need a more positive approach from our Chairman, to give us more hope that there will be new players coming in, and that we will be signing at least two of our loan players. Time is moving on, and we seem to be running on the spot at the moment. Come on Mr Khan, tell us something more exiting next time, and make that soon.

I think that some of you may have missed my point. I wasn’t complaining about not knowing about transfers, etc. I just could not see the point of his article when what he was writing about happened a month ago. In my opinion that is when he should have posted because as somebody wrote further up he did not really say anything in his piece that a) enlightened us in any way on anything and b) tell us anything we didn’t already know so I couldn’t see the point of the article.

Dont kid yourselves. That was an absolutely headless and pathetic performance. There wasnt one single england player with basic dribbling capacity. At FFC we actually have more talent at a thousandth of the price. The problem isnt that we nearly didnt win, the problem is that if thats the best the country can offer then some serious consideration must be given to the roots of our football. Yes, Khan do us all a favour ,buy wembley and make the FA invest in the kids.

If Ryan Sessignon had been playing for England tonight, we would have won 3-0. Can anyone tell me how Lingard, Henderson, Sterling and Young, can get into the England squad, when they wouldn't even get into ours. They are not International class, and they never will be. I wouldn't take any of them on a free transfer.

Why do England managers keep picking Sterling, he's a lightweight at International level and will never make it outside the EPL? Kane deserves his place for the next match by scoring twice, but not world class as some would say. Trappier is not in David Beckham's class, is he? Alli wasn't at the races, nor was Young, and Lingard missed so many chances he's better off playing park football. Stones deserves his place and so does Maguire. Pickford still learning at this level, Walker nearly cost us the match, otherwise had a good game, and Henderson splayed several excellent passes, he deserves another game.

And Southgate isn't Mourinho is he? Just as bad as previous England managers in not reacting to the situation quicker. Should have taken off Sterling and Lingard on the hour mark with Rashford and Vardy, and also Dier for Alli sooner. I rate Vardy to score against anyone, he's a lot sharper than Kane and miles better than Lingard.

Sorry still have my doubts about Mitrovic. Great in the Championship when making the most of Ryan Sessegon's workrate but I think Rafa may have a point. Missed two real chances in Serbria first gamne in Russia. Maybe £9 or £9 million and take a chance but £20 mill would be like better on the Green 0 to come up as far as I'm concerned and YES I know he's only 23 years old and can develope

His hold up play and passing was still good worked hard great fighting attitude strikers will always miss chances.20m sounds a lot to me because lm getting on But is it into days silly market if he took them chances would have been talking 25 to30m let’s hope he missed loads more in World Cup we get him for 10m and he can’t stop scoring for us

I understand your comments RoC and I guess Benitez believes similar of Mitrovic which is why he was let out on loan. Mitrovic however suits our style of play superbly and he seems to work very well with Slavisa. Would he score goals in the Premier League, definitely yes with the right service; will he get that service, not sure? I think £20m is about right for him at the moment. Would you want to pay much more...probably not but what else is out there for that price? I think if we do get him we will have to pay at least £20m with add ons up to £25m. Of course, he might have the World Cup lag effect which isn't going to be great for the start of our season.
posted by Tactics Board (Guest) - Monday 18th June 2018, 11:59 AM

Just because he missed a couple of easy chances in the World Cup does not mean he is not premiership level. Messi missed a penalty! Look at the goals he got for us last season, I still think he would have scored most of those goals had the opportunities had been presented to him in the premier. £20m is a steal when comparing to the prices quoted for Maddison and Chambers!
posted by Chris (Guest) - Monday 18th June 2018, 12:43 PM

Hope he misses more otherwise the price will go up. Its not just his scoring we need but his strength in holding the ball is excellent.
posted by Midds (Guest) - Monday 18th June 2018, 1:10 PM

Apart from Chris Wood (£15 Million ) and Glen Murray, to buy a striker who scored over 10 goals last year in the premiership was going to cost over £50 million. Dwight Gayle was offered for £25 million. So anything less than £20 million looks like good business.

Rich' we are knocking the players that got us this far again. Don't you think we should give them a chance? Mitrovic came in January, and how many more goals would he have scored through the whole season of last year? There aren't many strikers around that can get us 20 goals for the price of 2o million. I would be happy with Mitro and the addition of 1 more striker who is more mobile and pacier. We have Kamara also and Kabano and Aite. I know you may not be excited about our chances with these players in the prem, but i would say that the bottom 8 won't pull any trees up in my opinion. Would you like to swop Mitrovic for Benteke??? I would rather keep Mitrovic. I don't see the point of pulling our team that got us up apart. We were happy about the Wembley result and now we are picking holes in our squad. Lets all wait and see who Slavisa adds to our squad first. Fulham are a fantastic team with fantastic players, and i think each one will have something to add. They will all know how important it will be to perform to their best, even Piazon. What would we do with Kamara? Give u on him? He is an improver, and it would be dangerous to give him away on a wim. Go with this team and wait for additions guy's, i have a good fealing about our chances in this prem...

We need so many players before we start to improve the squad because we had so many loan players last year. An easy place to start would be ex players who, do you think we should consider and could realistically sign? For me I’d be happy to see the followingre sign: Moussa Dembele Mousa Dembele Patrick Roberts Chris Smalling Scott Malone Lewis Holtby Personally these are all don’t or can’t resign: Emerson Hyndman Steve Sidwel Bryan Ruiz Chris Baird Kerim Frei Chris Martin Konstantinos Mitroglou Ashkan Dejagah Pajtim Kasami Clint Dempsey David Stockdale Orlando Sa

We have an excellent group of players in optimum condition with higher expectations in the prem than most promoted teams. Yes, a few additions are required but only the essential. Anybody who was and went obviously cannot be expected to give their all (except mullery). Im still enjoying our promotion if our XI vs c-palace is the same as the wembley XI, then a mid table finish should be assured. COYW

Marbella' he didn't have a particularly good game against Costa Rica, but that can be explained. Tiredness and fatigue could be a factor now because Mitrovic has been on the go none stop since he signed for us in jan. My spin on the situation is that if we get him for 20 mill? Mitro will need a month off to be ready for the prem anyway. We will need another big name striker with more pace than mitro in my opinion, and we have Kamara as a 3rd striker. Players like Ronaldo get extra time off after world cups, and i think that our prem boys get a raw deal in that department. Saying that, a lot of people will beg to differ about footballers having time off.

We are in the prem now, and our young squad needs experience around them. We are trying to do what Barca do in their league, and apart from pressing the game a wee bit slow for my liking sometimes, we ain't too bad. If there was a player like Iniesta about? I would love him at Fulham. We don't have to fear anybody in the premiership, because we can keep the ball. 2 or 3 more additions on top of what we have will do nicely thank-you. We are a young and improving quad, and we have a few players that are well capable of stepping up to the plate, so let's do it when the curtain is open, and as the saying is, 'float like a butterfly, sting like a bee' that should be our introduction to the premiership. Somebody said that Slavisa is over there commentating on the World Cup? He has every intention and ambition to nurture our style. For sure we will get the occasional hammering, but we will learn. I don't think we will do what Leicester did a few years ago, but nevertheless, we are a young team, and well capable of competing at this level. Lets start to believe in our team a little bit more...

With reference to your last sentence - just WHO isn't believing in the team? Don't get it.

Looking at our fixtures certainly brings on frightening premonitions, but it is not as if we have not been here before, although I must admit under a different coach(Manager)I have every confidence that we will hold our own in the PL, but of course we must be prepared to lose a fair proportion of our matches, but then again, so will most of the bottom 10 teams, of which no doubt we will be one. Providing that we strengthen our squad, with a couple of experienced players, and I am sure that we will, as Slavisa isn't stupid, and there must be things going on behind the scenes even as we speak, to bring players in. So let's all look forward to our new challenge, as after all we were the second best, or maybe even the best, side to come out of the Championship for sometime. COYW

Marbella' A lot of fans are giving their opinion on who they think is capable of taking the team forward into the premier league. The Wembley euphoria has barely died down, and already we are picking holes in the team. I want all our players who were involved in this promotion to be given a chance. Piazon seems to be the biggest liability at the moment. I think he should be given a chance on his form earlier on in the season, and even earlier on from his leg break. 8 million between him and Kalas, if the deal goes through is not a bad deal. We need to bolster our squad, and Piazon will be decent along with Fonte in certain games that suit. If the likes of Jednak for Austrailia can perform like that against France, our squad will be okay in the prem. Fonte's brother who nobody rates, played okay for Portugal who drew against Spain, and that was the beat game of the tournament for me. It is all a matter of opinion on who is good enough for the prem. Slavisa will make that call in the end anyway. The likes of Floyde Aite seems to be one of the fall guys at the moment, but Slavisa likes him a lot. I will agree that Floyde has not performed to his best, especially in front of goals. He did have a few niggly injuries last season, and i think that Slavisa made a wrong call in playing him through the play-offs. He was dropped for the final and rightly so, but he is a good player, and we need a bigger squad. 20 million on mitro, and buying most of our loan players who slav wants to keep will dig into our budget big time. We will also need to buy another Striker i think. That will mean a rotation of Mitrovic/new striker/ and Kamara/ which is excellent, because we have the additions of Fonte/Kabano/Aite/ what can operate as wingers which is decent. Our back 4 will need another central defender to help Reamy and co. We could also do with someone like a Grealish to operate with Cairney and co. That makes us top '10' and that's me being optimistic. I don't see Fulham as relegation fodder, there are worst teams hanging on in the prem year after year...

Crikey. I wasn't criticising your post Owen as I know you are 2000% FFC but didn't quite get the last sentence. I for one am majorly optimistic about the coming season, so long as .....we keep Slav and the nucleus of the team that gave me the biggest hangover since Pontius was a pilot.

Actually, Pontius didn’t pass the buck through lack of interest, but out of fear for his decision. Likewise, Khan will ask Joka, who, unlike the crowd on this site, will respond in the right way

Khan could by the whole Barcelona squad and Harry Longball would still not be satisfied. He hates the Khans and promotes that hatred in every post he makes. Personally I don’t think he’s a Fulham fan and just likes to be provocative.

I think an awful lot of proper Fulham fans Don't trust the Khan's. Were they not the people responsible for appointing Tony Khan's friend Kline & the transfer debacle that followed ? You were one of those critical of Jokanovic while he was sorting out the mess they gave him MST, changed your tune later though didn't you eh. I'm waiting to see what they do with the "wembley windfall" & whether they respond to Jokanavic's request to "show ambition". Lets hope the Khans show a big improvement this year. I think my crticisms & your bottom polishing should wait until after the transfer window shuts at least. Just my opinion.

P.S. Rm, Pontius Pilate did pass the buck. He wasn't interested in saving Jesus's life because it was just too much trouble. So Harry's right. I doubt a Roman governor of the mightiest empire that ever existed ( until the British empire ) was fearful of a few priests in the flyblown backwater that was ( and still is ? ) Palestine.

With all due respect chaps can I point out that we have just been promoted. Not one of you/ us had any material effect upon that result. How would you judge the desired Khan commitment you crave, Premier League champs? Why stop there, let’s go for the Championship and then maybe get a change of citizenship for the whole squad and go for the 2022 World Cup. Maybe then we can all feel satisfied with the Khan family’s commitment. Maybe the less than trusting contributors should go and find a club with more attractive and trustworthy owners. May I suggest West Ham or maybe Newcastle for starters.

Khan was sold a (dying) pup by MAF and, admittedly, it took him time to turn things around. He's now done that, principally because of the assistance of Slavisa. Give the guy (and the Khan's in general ) a break, we're back in "the promised land" so simply ENJOY the next year or two or three or ................... We've endured the many difficult days and nights against also rans (I'm thinking in particular of the FA cup night v Sheff Utd in the pi**ing cold and wet when we lost in the 119th minute under Mulenstein!!!) so now it's time to get back "into bed" with the big boys. Some games we'll lose but others we'll win, lets get things in perspective though, as long as we have two Scots in the team (TC and big Kev) we'll be ok (Mitro, Stefan and Ryan would also be of great assistance!). Let's get this messageboard thinking more positively and forward thinking, the past is the past and MAF, etc. is no longer, lets get behind the family that took us to Wembley (what a day!) and who are taking us back there in a couple of months. It's about time that more people expressed the sentiment "thank you Shahid" rather than expressing how he should best spend his dough. COYW

We've got where we wanted to be, so now we have to establish ourselves in the EPL for many seasons to come. That does mean we have to refresh our squad every summer transfer window, particularly this summer. We are restricted to 4 loan players at any one time in the EPL, so we most likely have to buy. There's no getting away from the fact that last season's team does need strength in depth cover. We were extremely fortunate not to lose our key players to injuries in our magnificent run to Wembley, and a couple of injuries could cost us dearly. We should have matched Fredericks terms level with Cairney for a start. £40k a week is peanuts in the EPL. Alternatively we could have swopped him for a back up defender - anything but sell him off cheap to West Ham (who will be one of our main rivals in mid table).

It's not rocket science to work out where Chelsea went wrong. Swopping Costa for Morata was a huge mistake! Costa has turned into a more smooth and slick operator now, he used to put it about a bit, and he is more than a penalty box player. His first goal was sublime, pure quality. In fact the whole game and goals were top draw. England will need to up their game against that lot. There might only be 2 teams in that Spanish league, but nobody can say or dispute that our league is superior, it isn't...

A man sees a sign outside a house: 'Talking Dog For Sale'....He rings the bell, the owner appears and tells him the dog can be viewed in the back garden. The man sees a very nice looking Black Labrador Retriever sitting there. "Do you really talk?" He asks the dog. "Yes!" The Labrador replies. After recovering from the shock of hearing the dog talk, he man asks, "So, tell me your story!" The Labrador looks up and says, "Well, I discovered that I could talk when I was pretty young. I wanted to help the government, so I joined the SAS. "In no time at all they had me jetting from country to country, sitting in rooms with spies and world leaders, because no one imagined that a dog would be eavesdropping. I was one of their most valuable spies for eight years, But the jetting around really tired me out, and I knew I wasn't getting any younger so I decided to settle down. I signed up for a job at Heathrow to do some undercover security work, wandering near suspicious characters and listening in. I uncovered some incredible dealings and was awarded several medals. I got married, had a few puppies, and now I've just retired!" The man is amazed. He goes back into the house and asks the owner how much he wants for the dog. "Ten quid!" The owner says. "£10? But this dog is absolutely amazing! Why on earth are you selling him so cheaply?" "Because he's a lying git. He's never been out of the garden!"

A Brentford fan, a Fulham fan and a Chelsea fan were all in Saudi Arabia, sharing a smuggled crate of booze. All of a sudden Saudi police rushed in and arrested them. The mere possession of alcohol is a severe offence in Saudi Arabia, so for the terrible crime of actually being caught consuming the booze, they were sentenced to death! However, after many months and with the help of very good lawyers, they were able to successfully appeal their sentence down to life imprisonment. By a stroke of luck, it was a Saudi national holiday the day their trial finished, and the extremely benevolent Sheikh decided they could be released after receiving just 20 lashes each of the whip. As they were preparing for their punishment, the Sheikh suddenly said: “It’s my first wife’s birthday today, and she has asked me to allow each of you one wish before your whipping". The Chelsea fan was first in line (he had drunk the least), so he thought about this for a while and then said: Please tie a pillow to my back”. This was done, but the pillow only lasted 10 lashes before the whip went through. The Chelsea fan had to be carried away bleeding and crying with pain when the punishment was done. The Brentford fan was next up (he almost finished a half-can), and after watching the scene, said: “Choice! Please fix two pillows on my back". But even two pillows could only take 15 lashes before the whip went through again. The Fulham fan was the last one up (he had finished off the crate), but before he could say anything, the Sheikh turned to him and said: “You are from a most beautiful part of the world, your city has some of the best and most loyal football fans in the world. For this, you may have two wishes!” “Thank you, your Most Royal and Merciful highness”, The Fulham fan replies. “In recognition of your kindness, my first wish is that you give me not 20, but 100 lashes” “Not only are you an honourable, handsome and powerful man, you are also very brave. “The Sheik says with an admiring look on his face. “If 100 lashes is what you desire, then so be it. And your second wish? What is it to be?” the Sheik asks. “Please tie the Brentford fan to my back”

I do hope the management of our club have not forgotten that the summer 2018 transfer window closes on the 9 August in just 8 weeks time. The only transfer Fulham have been involved with was the loss of a half decent full back to West Ham (can't even say his name) who used Fulham for his own purposes. Hope he likes the atmosphere at the London Stadium. How they expect fans to comit to the hike in prices to what our side in the Premiership without at least securing the services of those who played for us last term i.e. including our loan players. Are they planning to leave it again to the last minute and sign a whole load of unknown players from minor leagues in Europe. If so we'll be in for a swift return to the Championship and lose our best players. Figures out Fulham. Forget the world cup....

Sort of agree and disagree with Rich. I think it's important to get signings done early, especially the proven players like Mitrovic and Targett. But, at the same time, it's important not to rush any brand new signings. Kostas(a-lot-us) and Steve Marlet, for example, were exciting at the time, but didn't achieve a great deal...

We probably got the luckiest break when Mitro's move to Europe fell through at the eleventh hour. This move without doubt got us to the playoff final and the huge funds for winning. If we cannot find the money to pay a fair price for him, especially as everybody and his dog wants him to come to Fulham. Let's tie it up and not fall at the last minute and then have to struggle for a second rater striker at the lastminuteplayer.com end of window scenario. I have a hunch we will tie up the deal by early next week, if not, ????

Mitrovic was a brilliant Championship player for us but because he is unproven in the Premiership we should pay less than the £20m asking price after all Ashley only paid £14.5M for him and Benitez doesn't rate him . The 2 people in the world I would not like to deal with over transfers are Daniel Levy and Mike Ashley so hope FFC play hard ball !

I thought that could be done and dusted before the end of last season if we wanted them permanently - bish bash bosh! The season waits for no man.

On a serious note though, how can you have a World Cup tournament that includes Iran, Panama, Saudi Arabia and doesn't include the likes of Holland and Italy.

Surely the qualification process needs to be looked at?

If we are not inclusive, World Cup will forever be between Europe and South America. I am not advocating political correctness - same argument would mean we’d not have women football, rugby (ok sometimes that not just about rugby for the female teams), ceo’s and perhaps even tennis!

Agreed, I think there should be regionalised pre-qualifying competition for the minor nations that then puts teams into the actual qualifying competition if that makes sense. So, if Saudi Arabia win the pre-qualifying competition, they can then enter one of the European qualifying groups. It would also mean that Scotland and Wales would have to play the likes of Gibraltar, Isle of Wight and Jersey prior to qualifying to play with the big boys! :)

FIFA is following the eurovision song contest ,big as possible, colourful as possible with quality secondary. This shouldnt take us by surprise. Who is on the FIFA governing board..France,Spain UK???no..its swazikong, island of tundra, swahililand......The heart and soul of football.

MST and with regard to your earlier comment about Brexit...there is a larger world than just Europe, so it is wrong to penalise the Uk for wanting to trade with Africa/Asia/Amercicas etc just as it is wrong to have a qualification system that favours the more established countries. The World Cup excitement is exactly seeing different countries from across the globe performing. The qualification system allows for the best from all different parts of the world to compete, that is fair.

Good debate.

What is the point of having small countries in football terms in a tournament just to make up the numbers and be whipping boys? by that logic we should put the Premier League in a league competition with all the other FL clubs.

Please don't point to the FA Cup as that is a knockout competition from start to finish and the small countries in the World Cup rarely (if ever) make it into the stage where they might have a chance to play a big country on an off day whilst they play out of their skins and knock them out (mores the pity).

Just an opinion - doesn't mean I'm right of course.

With regard to Brexit, I think you'll find that we already trade outside of Europe or was that New Zealand lamb I had last Sunday really from Zealand in Denmark ;0))))
posted by MST (Moderator) - Thursday 14th June 2018, 5:15 PM

no one said we don't trade outside the EU but there are trade penalties paid to the EU if we do. As we all know there is a much larger world than just those countries in a little club called the EU. It would be much fairer to embrace everyone rather than just pay homage to a small club.

The best World Cup Finals that I can recall took place in Mexico 1970 when only 16 teams took part: The worst that I recall was South Africa in 2010 when every nation and his wife seemed to join the party. Spurs have not had it agreed that they will play first home game at Wembley. League rules state a team must play all its home games at the same venue. The request goes against Premier League rules which state that each team must play all their home games in the same stadium over the course of a season. However, Sky sources understand that the Premier League board members, executive chairman Richard Scudamore and independent directors Kevin Beeston and Claudia Arney are considering Tottenham's requests. They are likely to announce their decision before the end of the week, although not necessarily in time for the release of the Premier League fixtures on Thursday. (source reported by Sky Sports News)

Fantastic news and business for Fulham to see these two signed up on the dotted line. We need a big squad back in the prem now. Kalas and Piazon have played their part in our promotion back to the prem, and if anyone has any doubts about their ability, they should check back on our fixtures and highlights of last season. Early on in the season piazon was the match winner a few times, and he will be a lot better in the prem. Kalas is a giant, and we need to see his surging runs up the pitch a lot more. We need his stature and presents behind Macdonald. MST' i don't think that Kamara on the pitch changes our style of play whatsoever. The game against Derby, Slavisa played him to distract their defence and it worked. Of course we need another big striker up the pitch, but also i think that Kamara will do a job as a 3rd striker, and he is different. Slavisa likes to switch him from left to right whenever needed, and there will be games when Kamara will run havoc at defences. A few fans are being picky and like to voice their opinion on who they think is good enough and who is not? We will do fine back in the prem, and i wouldn't want to get rid of any player who played their part in our promotion. Floyde Aite has come back from a niggly injury and didn't look sharp in front of goal, but he will be a useful squad member along with Neskins. More additions is needed obviously, and Slavisa and Fulham will no doubt do business under the radar as usual. Any one of the bottom 8 teams in the prem could have gone down, it was only marginal. We can compete in this top-flight no problem, and we should be confident! The only tactic i would change about Fulham is our slow build ups. Liverpool will fill their boots if we fanny about with the ball at the back like we do sometimes. I guess we will learn the hard way and quickly when we get hammered a few times playing like that. Slavisa will know this for sure, and he will address this tactic sooner rather than later. For sure, we are decent on the ball, and we will hold our own against the better teams who like to take their time. I would be more worried if i was a Cardiff supporter, and Warnock was in charge. I don't think their style will hold up in the prem, and they will go straight back down. Let's get the fixtures out and enjoy dreamland. We have earned it, so now let's enjoy it...

I am hoping for this deal to happen, though it isn't yet confirmed. Piazon has a return of 1 goal in 5 for us, which is not bad for a relatively defensive winger. Kalas has made around 70 appearances in his two seasons with us. Both would be valuable squad players in the PL. I wouldn't expect either of them to start (though Kalas is the far more likely). £8 million would frankly be a bargain. They know the club, the squad and the manager, which can often be a huge hindrance for new PL signings.

Harry' Piazon will be okay, we need squad players. Remember him before his leg break up at Leeds? He is a good player, he just needs to stop those fancy dan flicks and lay the ball off properly. Even the likes of Fonte will be decent in the prem, just wait and see. Slavisa likes Aite, half the fans don't rate him and so on. Floyde Aite has had his problems with injuries last season. We need to give these guys the benefit of the doubt, and trust in Slavisa, he makes the call on players. We have come down from the Wembley euphoria, and now we are doubting half the squad that got us up. Let's chill and enjoy our ride into the prem. That bottom 8 in the prem are nothing special and they could have gone down on a thin margin. We are better than the bottom 8 teams in the prem. What will we be like with another 2 finds like Mitrovic? Fulham will be awesome! I am confident and really looking forward to prem football. I wonder if there will be a Fulham TV on sky? Hey' we might even do a Leicester??? Lets live the dream!!! A lot of players around the world admire our brand of football. We are in the prem now, and it won't take a lot of persuading in bringing players to Craven Cottage. Just sit back and see who Santa Slav recruits to Fulham....
posted by OWEN (Guest) - Wednesday 13th June 2018, 8:59 PM

Agree with Owen. We need squad players and both would be great! Even if we spend £60-70m it won’t get us many more players we didn’t have last season. I don’t agree piazon is not good enough for the prem. him and Fonte are very technical and skilful players and their build is much more suited against teams in the premier. I’d thought their combined market value around £13-15m. But because they are stuck between the two leagues, we might be in a lucky to pick both up for £8m. Take it!

Probably not a million miles from the truth. Do you really want to pay to watch someone earn 90k per week. I certainly dont. The sooner clubs get back to reality the better. I guess we will now hear the same rumours as we did a few seasons ago, who we are going for and how much,8million for kalas and piazon,? one hardly ever played a full game all season, and the other was thought not good enough to end the season at center back so that's a good start. Now we are quoted large amounts for Swansea and arsn players that will never happen as they will go to a higher bidder. With one eye on Wembley and one on FFC I know the kind of cheques signing ffc will get.

..What holding your hand to your ear and twisting it back and forth (like Mitrovic does when he scores) means?

Diomansy Kamara used to do the same thing when he scored.

Just wondered....
Replies
I think its a type of protest or a way of calling attention to a personal or professional problem. In the case of kamara ,probably due to lack of playing time and Mitro I assume its a message to Newcastle "look what ive just done ". In a similar manner some players point to their shir number on the back as if to say "remember".

I see that the Daily Mail have signed up Slavisa as one of their reporters for the World Cup. It's nice that they recognise him as having a good knowledge of top football, but surely he should be concentrating on club business, such as transfers, and not writing in a newspaper. I also wonder if he is covering the competition, in Russia or at home. If he will be based in Russia, I will be even more worried, as he will no doubt be taking his eye off of the ball.
Replies
If based in Russia I'd be looking at it as more of a positive, this surely can bs used as an opportunity to scout players and speak with agents Bigger picture to be looked at here i think.

It is well documented that Slavisa Jokanovic does not buy players and I doubt there is a single Manager of a Prem club that does the negotiations personally in any case.

I would expect that Slavisa has already identified the positions he needs to fill and the players (or type of player) he has in mind and I would also expect that they have phones and internet in Russia ;0).

I will take this as more of a positive than a negative, as he will be able to see any possible future signings live. It's amazing what a promotion does though. I am sure that had we still have been in the Championship and not the Premier League, he would not have been considered as a reporter. Ah Premier League, doesn't that sound good.
posted by A C (Guest) - Wednesday 13th June 2018, 10:21 AM

I would agree that the improvements we need have already be identified and the possible players have been targeted and the finance people are doing the work behind doors to get them. What is need now is to raise Slavisa's profile. You can do this from being successful over many years or from promoting yourself. Teams from out of the UK or Europe will not be familiar with Fulham so you hope they are aware of your Manager. Being a columnist for a national paper in Britain and being seen at a world cup looking at players to buy and meeting there agents is a good thing.

As Slavisa was crucial in bringing in Mitrovic at least, I hope he is responsible for identifying the actual players he wants to work with. We don't need a return to debacle of the Khan/Kline selections of last summer's transfer window.

Isn't it great to see us linked with players again? I've missed that kind of speculation in the Championship and although I don't believe most of it, it provides (in many cases) some comforting reading that we are probably active in the transfer market.

One I'd like to see come off is Callum Chambers. I know we went for him last season but our bid fell short so maybe we have enough funds now to entice him away. Like Odoi, he can play right and centre back and is used to our passing game and playing out from the back so would be a good addition in my opinion.
Replies
Agreed! Each day I'm canvassing the web for transfer gossip. Makes a nice change to actually find some FFC related which isn't clubs robbing Sess or Cairney from us. I reckon Chambers could be a good addition. Could see him playing well with Ream &, much as I like Odoi, he's not PL quality and Chambers would be a big improvement. Also - there's a mass exodus from Sporting Lisboln at the mo following "fans" assaulting a bunch of their players. Most will go to bigger clubs than ours but I reckon we could tempt Bas Dost, a giant Dutch striker that could suit our style of player. Maybe worth a punt on a free as backup to Mitro (Once we get that one done - fingers firmly crossed!)

There is a lot of bogus news floating about, and maybe we spread them from within. I really think that Slavisa and co are playing their cards closer than usual because this is the prem and we need to make good calls. 40 Million for Grealish is ridiculous, and stay clear of that one. I fancy our chances in this prem league no problem. With the right additions, we will do okay, and depending on a good start to the fixtures, Fulham could pick up strong points. Teams like Huddersfield, Newcastle, and Brightons, we are not far apart. In fact we probably are a step ahead of them in my opinion. I am more upbeat than downbeat about our chances in the prem, and any Fulham fans feeling a wee bit nervous about our chances, should trust in Slavisa and our style. The only thing we need to do different is to inject more gears and a quicker build up in our play from the back. Good football is a science, and it makes no difference either in the Championships or the premiership. All 3 teams that went up last season survived okay and okay is just okay. We' Fulham will do better than okay and should compete with the big boys with our passing game. England missed a trick when they ignored a young debut in Sessegnon. No matter what people think or say about him being too young? He is more intelligent than your Hendersons, and Sterling. England play too many long balls which will do nothing to win a world cup against the more clever teams and players. Sessegnon didn't have to do a lot in our Wembley final, apart from that clever through ball to Cairney. That is 'CLASS' and that is what i am talking about in the prem. I hope you guys believe we can compete with the big boys because we play intelligent football. Enjoy our stay in the prem guys' and just keep believing...

Ironic that you trust in Slavisa and believe in our style now Owen as for the last few games of the season (including the Wembley game) you were writing on here that we should change our style and play long balls to Kamara to run onto.

I am sure that I am not the only one who has noticed that the BBC is phasing out men sport/football reporters. Women now dominate on BBC radio and this has spread to Final Score on Saturday afternoon where we have women reporters giving updates and final reports screeching/shouting as opposed to the sensible comments like Motty. They are everywhere and this morning Radio Four announced that the BBC are breaking new ground by having a woman commentator for the first English World Cup game. I will definitely be tuning in to a different channel. I hasten to add, before I am attacked by the PC squad, that I am not being sexist but like sport played by men to have men commentators. I noticed that women's football, netball, cricket and hockey are all commentated on soley by women so let's have the same for men's sport.

The BBC take our licence money and waste it on promotion outdoor Pop Concerts because there is no Glastonbury is that right? The present BBC is the voice ot the European Union and totally opposed to the democratic decision of the people of this country to leave the EU which cost £980 million per year way above the benefits received.

As we've grown up with a culture of male commentators for most of our lifetime, I'm not surprised we feel opposed to, or uncomfortable with, female commentators. Still some changes just aren't worth the moan and in 40 years from now nobody will be any the wiser about gender issues relating to commentators because they'll be so used to women and men commentating on all manner of sports that they won't bat an eyelid when a female voice does the football, rugby or boxing!

It's hard to grasp why men somehow feel threatened by more opportunities for women. If you think one individual is less able to do a job than a specific man, then please argue your case. Otherwise, it just seems like raw prejudice from insecure imbeciles. There are plenty of idiotic men who hold down such jobs without being held to represent their gender, so why is it even a question? NORFOLK, I'll watch and enjoy pretty much any game of football, even a park team or my kid's school game. I've never really found any football itself boring, men's or women's. There’s only a dozen clubs he’d go to at the moment. Top 6 premier league, top 3 or 4 of Spain, Juventus, Milan, PSG and Bayern. So I don’t think he’s going anywhere. Apart from a few rich clubs in poor leagues, no one else would pay him £2m a year. Jokanovic doesn’t strike me as a man of greed (before you mention Watford, he left out of principle for being offered the less the half the lowest salary in the prem) so hopefully non of the big guys will take a bet on him!

A few weeks ago most of us would accept and be over the moon if we got promoted and the chairman invest £60-70m in players. I still think both hold true but unfortunately with today’s inflated market, I think £60m would only get us the team and squad we had last season! Mitrovic’s value will be increasing by £1m above £20m for every goal he scored until end the of the World Cup - so he could be £25m or more. Chelsea are stubborn on the fee they want for their players. I don’t think we will have much money for new players - at best we’d keep the same team! I think Khan needs to put in £100m if he wants to make an impression on the premier league. But that’s crazy money and not really sustainable for us yet. So have to be realistic! Be happy with what we have!

Well said although 1 point I would make is that I think Chelsea will be a far more frugal club and will not be able to hold onto players indefinably, They will be off loading there loanees a lot sooner. I would not be surprised if Chelsea make a profit on there transfer market dealings over the next few years the days of Chelsea paying top money for the best players is in the past.

The Serbian link ...IF Jokanovic stays and we get Mitrovic then why not Grujic he would be a very decent addition. Definitely watching Serbia closely in the World Cup.

Patrick Roberts back at Fulham....he is a likely make weight in the Myhrez deal so will end up at Leicester. I think we should have a look at bringing him back to us if that deal doesn’t work out.

Grealish would be a fantastic for us and easily worth £25m .....I suspect he will go to Spurs as a replacement for the departing Dembele.

Reports linking us with Joe Bennett from Cardiff City. I watched a fair bit of Cardiff last season and he always seemed the weak defensive link for them. Defensively caught wrong side of attackers and not quick enough to get away with it and inevitably gave away silly fouls. Going forward very average/weak. Targett is a far better player and I am not a great fan of Targett either. I hope the rumours are not true.

Is he cheap/free though ?

We're keen on Grealish & maddison apparently, Well that's 2 players we absolutely won't be buying then.

We should push the boat out and try and buy Luke Shaw

Just to be clear....Targett did very well for us but I don’t think he is premier league quality, very few of our current team are.Thats not to say improvements can’t be made with some players or the sum of the parts with excellent coaching cant make us competitive. But back to the point we must look at bringing in players better than Joe Bennett who I don’t think is a particularly good championship player added to the fact he wouldn’t really suit our style of play. Awful rumour and hope it stays that way.

Luke Shaw is on £130K per week so we can forget that one. His agent did well to get him that much!
