I am confident our board are making good negotiation skills on the transfer market, I think it will be a matter of time before we call quit on Newcastle and leave them to keep an unhappy player who doesn’t want to be there. I’d would not be disappointed with our board if we did that! Newcastle are desparate for the money, they don’t want Mitro so the stand-off with them is completely down to greed and wanting to get the very last penny out of a player we helped to bring back from the dead. So if we don’t resolve this in the next couple of days it’s time to stick the two fingers at NUFC. £20-£25m - I am sure we can find an equiv or a better player!

Agreed, but think we're making progress overall.

Paper talk I know, but, I fulham apparently going in for malcolm. If this one comes true I'm looking at the top 6 spot. Can all but dream. The funny thing is seri was being hyped up as coming to arsenal all my arsenal mates wanted him so bad same with malcolm I will be laughing if we get this done. Very unlikely I know but who knows.

With the two signings we have made , and if Malcolm does sign it would mean we are stepping up a level. Heads would certainly be turning around the premier league and surly mute the " No ambition " brigade. Come on Malcolm add a bit of Brazilian flare to Craven Cottage.

The World Cup final was a perfect blueprint for excellent football that Fulham can learn from. France are the worthy winners outright, they just have that cutting edge based on their counter-attack for me. If Slavisa and Fulham have any ambitions to break into the prem top 8, and i think all this is doable by the way, we must take a leaf out of the way Croatia go about their business. Fulham already have the reputation for playing good passing football back in the championships, and things can step up a notch or two in my opinion. If there was a weakness in our way we go about things, we can be a touch slow with our ticky-tacky football. This won't work in the prem, especially when playing teams like Liverpool, they will be all over us like a rash! Slavisa like the intelligent scholar and master of the arts will know this 100%. I disagree that it will take a few seasons to adjust to the prem, and we won't necessarily have that time to do so. We already have a decent enough midfield and with additions, it is being improved upon all the time. Croatia play the perfect possession football, and they press the ball perfectly with timing and skill. I think we have the players to replicate this, and Slavisa and our excellent coaching staff will implement some of this taken from the final. Those cutting through balls by the French, love them or hate them, are just brilliant, and we must take a leaf out of their way of playing too. I know some people will argue that we don't have those type of players like Rakiti, persic, Mbappe, pogba',etc, and they are correct. We do have decent players who want to play perfect football and love football. Practice makes perfect, and with practice and good coaching what we have down here at SW6, we can achieve all this. If not, at the very least move up a notch or two in our game. The bottom 8 in the prem will always flirt with relegation season after season, but there is no reason why we should be a part of that struggle if we carry on improving our football. We must believe we can compete and stay in the premiership. We had a good 13 years stay in it, and for most of it, it was enjoyable. Fulham can do so again with a resolute, ambitious, and forward thinking managerial set-up. Slavisa Jokanovic and team will make Fulham into a force again, but this time things will only get better. Fulham are in the premiership, can you believe that??? Now lets go and enjoy it.....

Perhaps a bit long, but a good read. What I learnt from yesterday was that the England team punched above its weight due to week opposition; we are nowhere near being able to compete with the top 6 countries, and should certainly not be happy with our current standing in the world. Football coming home? More a fantasy than a dream. School report should read: ‘could and should do better”

Billy if only you show a fraction of the passion Owen has on Fulham, we be a much stronger club. Not that I agree with all points made by Owen - eg a bit too optimistic to mention France and Fulham, apart from both have 6 letters and starts with F, in the same breath but then again , I do think Fulham could do better than many teams have seen in the world cup! Not sure what you are looking for in here - even mourinho talks bollocks sometimes!

Played 6 won 2 drawn 1 lost 3! Good World Cup ? Not too convinced myself,I was excited like the whole country but not sure how much progress we’ve made. Southgate probably the man for the job but we have a long way to go until we progress as a top international team.
Replies
We beat nobody in a perfect cup run you would normally pray for. Struggled to get past Tunisia and columbia and couldn't beat a number of mediocre teams. Not a lot to get excited about even with a young team. If we are proud of that we set very low standards.

We finished above Brazil, Spain, Germany, Argentina, Colombia and uraguay. We finished behind France, Belgium and Croatia - we can’t really expect to be ahead of them! So record will also tell us we had a good World Cup!! But I agree with you - we had a bit of luck and if it was a league table with all the World Cup teams - we would struggle to finish in the top half! We don’t have a strong team so Southgate has done a good job! He’s obviously have take a leaf from Jokanovic’s football book but if the last 24 months for Fulham was a 24hr clock, England is still stuck at 6am! Too slow at times. Lacked creativity. Too much passing in own half and haven’t found a player like Mitro.

Considering the expectations pre tournament reaching the semi finals has to be seen as real progress regardless of the opposition involved. I can never understand the desire of so many English supporters to continuously highlight the negative. The press are always famine or feast we are either crap or world beaters this nonsense should be ignored. The English team was probably at its lowest point following the dismal showings in the 2 previous tournaments. Surely even the most negative punters out there can see that some progress has been achieved this time around.

It's not being pessimistic it's just speaking the truth and not getting carried away. We had an easy run but as soon as we met anyone who could play we were put in our place. If we had met Brazil Germany or Argentina who are all in a bad place they would have beaten us. We did play well against Sweden and panama but that was it. We had the best keeper at the tournament but will never get such a good chance again. I assure you the top teams will be a lot better as I hope we will be.

Think three or four of the team emerged with great credit, but most of the established players Kane, Deli Ali. Sterling to name just three, looked lost for ideas. If Gareth gives the likes of Sess a chance who knows we might have a decent Euro competition in a.couple of years time- but still look long way behind the French.

I think we all have given England some credit and infact, a big pat on the back for what they achieved. I also think we must not treat them like 5year kids when we are of allowed to give them some truth and where they have done bad and can improve. They are not kids. We should give them a balanced view and be honest on where we can improve and congratulate them on what they have achieved.

Just read that Southgate is to make as few changes as possible, because the team wants to go out on a high note and finish third. In which case he should make changes to his starting line-up, e.g. replace Sterling and Lingard with Rashford and Vardy. Replace Young with Rose and we will sew up the match by half-time, providing Kane and Alli start playing again. It's not rocket science, Gareth, it's called team rotation when we have a strong enough squad to do so. IMO, only Pickford, Stones and Maguire have enhanced their reputations - the rest of the first-choice eleven have been nothing special, and that includes Kane in the last couple of games.

Oh well, you did so much better than we thought, there's always next time and it's the taking part, not the winning that's the important bit eh? Pip Pip!" Stephen' Rose was pants down that right side, and England midfield didn't have a clue. Fulham would have done better at passing the ball...

Yeah, well tough luck, England who were the better team for most of the second half, after the reshuffle. Owen, Rose plays down the left, not right, and I agree he was woeful, but bear with him, he's recovering confidence following a cruciate ligament injury that several years ago would be the end of a player's career. And I accept I know zilch about what's happening behind the scenes in Russia, SirH, but I do know that playing Kane and Sterling together first half was not a good idea, to put it mildly, as neither had any attempts on goal or looked likely to. Kane looked a shadow of his earlier games, and Sterling still runs around like a headless chicken for England - and was as deadly as a cockroach in the goal area. Both Rashford and Loftus Cheek definitely have a future with the England team once they gains International experience should retain their places.
posted by stephen terry (Guest) - Sunday 15th July 2018, 2:41 AM

And I would congratulate Southgate's second half changes, apart from Lingard, who blows hot and cold but mainly cold - and Delph playing LB was excellent for England in that position. Pep sure knows how to coach his players, even Sterling scores goals for City.

I actually wagered 2 paper clips on France to win the World Cup, and Fulham to finish in the top 8. I think my first half might be fruitful, but Fulham top 8, is possible. Even if we finish, say 10th, i would be ecstatic! The crucial point i am trying to make is that we, us fans should be sending a message and positive vibes out to our team that we are up for the prem and ambitious. What are we achieving by sending out vibes about relegation? We really shouldn't do that to our players that got us through a Wembley final. We have just had confirmation about 2 decent signings and in my opinion, we should be aiming higher now. Let's send some positive to our players who have stuck around. Players like Tom Cairney who has just signed on for 5 years. If i was a footballer reading this forum, it wouldn't be nice to sign on for 5 years and fans giving negatives out. We have a lot to be excited about, and Khan is loosening the purse strings now. I am peed off about Liverpool getting Shaqui on the cheap by the way. 13.5 million? Stoke let themselves down big time. I wouldn't have let Shaqui go for any less than 2o mill. There you go though, and good luck to him. Shaqui would have more game time down at Fulham in my opinion. I could be wrong and we will see. Seri made the right call in signing for Fulham because he would not have gotten too much game time at Chelsea. If he plays a blinder this season, big clubs will come knocking for sure, and his price will rocket up. The good thing is, Fulham are now street smart, and we are putting pen to paper and securing deals. Dembele at Celtic, i wonder if there are any regrets from him? Lets get ready to rumble, by the way, where is MITROVIC?????
Replies
So if we finish 10th you would not be shocked ? Different from your other post. And who is sending out relegation vibes? Now your peed off with Liverpool. Why can’t you just enjoy what is happening at this moment instead of going over the top with everything.

Guy's, i am sure we can achieve top 8, but even if we finish 10th or 12th, we survive. The most important thing is to stay in the prem first time of asking. I could have suggested the easy solution to the equation and rounded it up to 40 points for safety just like most people do. As Fulham fans we should aim higher, and there are good reasons for this. We have a very good and ambitious manager, and he has the gift of the gab. We have made 2 very good signings in Seri and Marchand from Nice. Listening to them both on FTV Freeview, tells me these guys are here to play football in the right way. They know and respect each other, even though they are from different cultures, and they are both comfortable with a football. It is a very unusual coup to sign 2 footballers who know and complement each others game so much, it is a good sign. Matt Targett is still on the radar, and i like that immensely, Sess and Matt will know about each others game the more they link up down that left side. Seri on you-tube is out to impress and he sounds hungry to do so,Cairney and co will benefit. Seri is a lot quicker dribbling, and his injection of pace and control is infectious. I could go on and on about OUR team but you guys get the gist. Slavisa doesn't give a target or a specific aim for this season, but i guarantee you, he is not thinking about survival in the prem. Slavisa is slowly crafting a Fulham team that works and plays for each other. These guys are repetitively drilled and honed in their passing game, and they will be even more psychi and close to each other. Watching the England team against Belgium, there is no psychi amongst the players. England midfield don't know when to pass/ stick or twist. Sessegnons name was mentioned with a few others for the future. Sess would have made a lot more intelligent passes than Stirling or lingarrd for sure. I will be jumping hoops if and when we finally sign Mitrovic, and Targett. We don't have Sam Allardice and his 40 points mentality, and Slavisa is way more football minded. Why would any Fulham loving football fan just want to survive in the prem? We have a history and tradition for playing attractive football, the prem is crying out for our brand of football. Watford was a success that Slavisa put together, yet he wasn't around to see it bare fruit. This time around, Slavisa is ready to introduce his latest box of tricks in the form of Fulham, a small, enterprising, and eager to please family unit, and players ready to surprise the premiership. What target and position will Slavisa have in mind for his band of brothers? Top 8??? Watford he will want to surpass, and 40 points and scraping the barrel will not be our ultimate aim and target...

Lets remember he will go for about 6 weeks over xmas and new year for Africa cup ,he is from ivory coast, also his mate ,were did he come from ,don't believe he was actually at Nice read some were he was at nice a while back,so who came up with him don't seem to have any pedigree. But will wait and see.

An Englishman, a Croatian, and a Belgian are having a debate about the World Cup in a pub. The Englishman insists England were the better team in the semi-final, and that the Croatians got lucky. Naturally the Croatian disagreed, saying that the Croatian midfield was far too strong, and that England were simply not clinical enough, wasting some glorious chances. The Belgian, however, takes a more neutral stance and says, "Look, we lost to France, but I think..." All of a sudden he gets up and runs across the road. The Englishman gets up and shouts, "Why did you cross the road?" and the Belgian replies, "To get to the other side!"

Just read an article in the Express saying that England could benefit from the inventiveness of Phil Foden, and have Ryan Sessegnon playing on the opposite flank to Kieron Trippier. Foden was outstanding as captain of the young England team who won their World Cup, dare I say it he looked like a young Bobby Moore, and we all know that our Ryan cold become an England star.

Why do posters on here worry about how much players earn weekly? If the chairman feels things to be a good deal then so be it. Posters are not having to pay these large amounts.. my reason for not wanting to sign Hart is that I don’t rate him even if he played for nothing.

Mark, I agree and disagree with you. for sure its not my money. However, for example, I assume you'd have liked to keep Frederick. Would you have a view if the club should, for example, pay him 50% more than Cairney and everyone else? if not, rest my case. if so, that's my point - team harmony is very important for the fans. Why England have been successful in this world cup is we have (in general) a level headed team and everyone know where they in the in the team ranking and pecking order.

Because Mark , amoung reasons like FFP, why waste money on Harte and then not have the money to pay someone good. QPR wasted loads of money on the wrong players and they're in trouble. Look at Villa , spent bundles of cash and now they are in it deep. Could be another relagation for them. That's the way it is these days

I now shudder to think what might have happened had we lost that Final at Wembley. By winning that game our club has now been transformed maybe for many seasons to come into a team to be reckoned with, unlike our Final opponents Aston Villa, who are now in a mess. Never, probably in our history, has one match being oh so important. I breath a sigh of relief every time I think of what might have been had we lost. I must admit I keep watching that Final, over and over again, and it's still so hard to believe that we are back in the Premier League, but now I can't wait for the season to begin. COYW

Been away from the forum for a while so forgive me if this has already been discussed. The similarities between Fulham and England. Both have a manager who was adamant that he wants them to play the ball out from the back. The players and fans take a while to bed in. Everyone frets when the ball is being played out of the back. Everyone thinks we need a plan B. But the manager sticks with the plan and bit by bit everyone sees that it works, the players get on board, the fans get on board and suddenly you can't even remember a time when the goalkeeper wasn't playing the ball out rather than hitting 70 yard punts to the strikers. I guess the only real difference is at least we had a happy end to our campaign...

So we lost to a better side. Big thing was that we exceeded all expectations. But we could have beaten Croatia. First half we were all over them; but common problem came to the fore. Statistic, shots on goal, Croatia 7 England 1. Now I'm not sure that everyone will agree with that but it is true that we had several chances and in open play our front line was not good enough. My MoM was Walker but we had several vg performances. I think that if Vardy, Rashford and Dier had come on after 60 minutes, we might have seen a different story. Henderson gave a great performance of heart and endeavour but he really needs to learn to play the ball to the opposition goal. His style gives the opposition time to regroup which is the exact opposite of how we came to lose 2 goals!

Vardy and Rashford should have started the game in place of Sterling and Lingard and we would have sown up the match by half-time.

I agree ST. I've never been a fan of Sterling at England level. Does a lot of running but his end product, both delivery to others and shots on target are poor. And he loses the ball too often.

According to a claim in the Turkish media, Fulham are close to signing Besiktas goalkeeper Fabri.

The West London club have been busy in the transfer window this week with the signing of Nice midfielder Jean-Michael Seri, and Fulham’s new signing could be joined by the Spanish keeper.

Aspor journalist Aykut Ince reports Fulham made an initial bid of €3.5m for Fabri which was instantly rejected by Besiktas as they initially valued him at €8m. It’s claimed the Premier League side came in with a second offer of €4.5m and following talks the Turkish side are now prepared to accept €6m, although it’s not stated Fulham have offered that.

It’s reported Fulham’s interest in Fabri has come about because their goalkeeping coach Jose Sambade was previously at Besiktas.

The 30 year old has been Besiktas’ first choice since arriving in Istanbul in 2016 from Deportvio La Coruna, making 34 Turkish Super Lig appearances last season.

Fabri is contracted to the Turkish side until next summer.

Stirling, Lingarrd, Henderson, and young, are all fine players, but to field a combination like this in a semi-final proved England's downfall. When Tom Cairney signed on to Fulham for 5 years, i was pleasantly surprised. A few slow and boring build-ups was what was needed in that England squad. Cairney is the type of player that comes along once every so often, and people take no notice, or for other reasons, your Cairneys get overlooked. Fulham were shewed and very canny to secure his future for 5 years. 5 long years??? I wonder if he negotiated a sly buy-out clause to a bigger club if an opportunity knocks, time will tell. Remember old man Pirlo for Italy? He was fantastic at what he does, and not saying Cairney is the complete midfield genius just yet, there is still time to hone his skills to that level. Slavisa is drilling that philosophy into Fulham, and if we pull it off in the prem, things could get interesting. Tom Cairney was born in Nottingham and has Scottish blood on one side of his family tree. Why did he choose Scottland over England? I can only assume that Scottland and Strachan promised him more game-time? I might be talking rubbish, and Cairney might have more love for his Scottish roots than we thought. Anyhow, if Slavisa's plans come to fruition, we may well have secured the signing of the season in Tom Cairney. Our Pirlo legend down at SW6, whatever next for our Fulham? So Fulhamish by some fans to talk about relegation now we are in the top flight. I want to extend the dream and beyond the rainbow into 'OZ' where Dorothy walks and the tin man etc. We have already won our golden ticket to Charlie and the chocolate factory through Wembley. Lets not stop dreaming now Fulhamites, we still are on a magical journey of dreams. TOM 'PIRLO' CAIRNEY, will take us beyond that rainbow...

Phil' if the likes of Ligaard and Stirling can get in the England squad, so could Cairney if he had chosen England. The whole midfield went walkabouts in the 2nd half. England have never produced anybody that can marshall and control that midsection. Tom Cairney can show everyone how to do it in the prem. We are in dreamland guys, and the addition of Jean Michael Seri is a big deal. Mitrovic will be beaming with happiness when he finally makes his entrance back to the Cottage. Slavisa is bringing it to the table, and Fulham will be a force in the prem. Are you feeling it guys? 'KEEP EM COMING SLAVISA'!!!!!!

So'ton won't let him go Owen and we can't hang on forever for a player that, let's face it, is an ok left back who did great for us last season in a lower league but is hardly pulling up trees now is he? Simple as that.

It's like these posters that say we shouldn't have let this player go or we should have signed that player like the player has no say in the issue. This is Fulham not Barca, we can't just make an offer and that's the end of the matter and people just sign.

He's got a good pedigree and can also play at centre back which is the type of player that Jokanovic likes to have in his squad so that he has options when we don't have as big a squad as some of the other clubs.

I’ve been somewhat maligned. Of course I’m thrilled, it’s simply that I didn’t love the preamble to the signing, nor warmed to his post signing comments. Fulham certainly doesn’t appear, at first sight, to be the culmination of his lifelong ambition, but yes, I am very pleased, and am certain that we will have an excellent first season in the Premiership, and Seri will contribute to that

I am proud of the England team. For the first time in many years, i actually felt sorry for team for losing. They deserve more for their attitude and commitment. For many years I felt England players had no one but themselves to blame for their failure (to be completely honest, there were one or two occasions I wanted to see them fail). The players who feel they are bigger than the team, deserve to win by just turning up and just want to use England as a vehicle to enlarge their ego! I don’t see that in the current team. Really reminds me of Fulham over the last 2 seasons! I am 110% back supporting England! The honest assessment is that England (like Fulham 18months ago) are Not good enough today but they continue and keep the team spirit, get rid of anyone who thinks they are bigger than the team (eg Dembele, Ross), success will come and the fans will not walk away again!! Well done boys. Great effort. Not good enough today but the future is bright!

Congratulations England for exceeding expectations and reaching the semis. I am looking forward to watching a refreshed team selected to play Belgium for third place. Players I'd like to see start are Rose, Rashford, Vardy and maybe Delph and Dier. Players that need to be rested are Kane, Lingard, Sterling, Young, and Alli - none of whom played up to their club reputations. If Trippier isn't 100% and still crying, I'd rest him as well, and bring in Cahill to stop up the defence. To be honest, I feel the occasion and captaincy responsibility was too much a burden for Kane - in his last two games he was out of it. Which brings me back to Southgate, who cannot or is not capable of looking beyond his first choice team, as did Hodgson in the Euros. However, he is young enough to learn how to pace a squad and select an in-form (and fresh) team in order to get the best performance out of them - otherwise what's the point of having a 23 man squad?
Replies
Trippier scored his first (great) goal for England against Croatia, and was feted as the new David Beckham. He's got a long way to go to match DB's records, though. Sterling continues to run around like a headless chicken, a very poor simile of Vardy, IMO. Lingard just isn't up to it, TBH. Kane - well, I thought he'd cracked it at long last but his last two games against decent opposition found him wanting. Young, played out of position. Alli never got his act together with Kane, and was disappointing despite his talent. Southgate - wrong selection choice against Croatia. Had Vardy and Rashford played from the off instead of Lingard and Sterling, and Rose instead of Young, England would have sown up the match before half-time.

A great effort to get to the semi's the big disappointment for me was the inability to change things, bringing on like for like substitutions in Rose and Dier did nothing to change the game...it was a world cup semi not a relegation battle where a point was a good result...should of gambled earlier with such a big prize in view...Welbeck has the best scoring record apart from Kane, where was he? Still we're going in the right direction with more youngsters coming along...Also I wish Cairney hadn't opted for Scotland he could be the answer in England's midfield with his killer passes, something we lack.

DMK' We are lucky to have the signing of Tom Cairney for 5 years. I can't believe he would ign for that long. Shows everyone how much love he as for Fulham. Tom Cairney would have marshalled that England midfield all night long. Croatia were dead on their feet, but they are streetwise. Mandukjic did nothing all game, and i thought he was out of it from that collision with pickford. I guess we switched off and the old sly fox ghosted in between the spaces to score. Kane was poor for me,and i would have put on Vardy much earlier, and that lucky Arsenal player who always score. (Welbeck) It's all about experience isn't it, and that was what was lacking. We mentioned Tom Cairney would have done a job, but he chose Scottland. If we have a good season in the prem and there is no reason why we shouldn't in my opinion, that 5 year tye up of Cairney will prove very shewd, because Tom Cairney is one of the best at keeping the ball when it matters, and laying the ball off when necessary.

Best team won it, I’m sorry to say. That said we have found a few solid players In Maguire, Trippier and the goalie, who should develop nicely and be around for a while. Think Walker is no longer up to the job and Ali and Kane just didn’t jel. Whole tournament a bit of a disappointment really, not the standard you’d expect from the World Cup. Ah well, will have to get our excitement watching our own brand of entertaining football down the Cottage, I hope. Thanks to Arizonan, fortunately was able to watch in the hotel in Banff by delaying our departure by a couple of hours. The final would have been a bit more difficult.

Check out Sweden’s pre tournament qualifying group and remember that despite losing to a last minute goal from the reigning World Champions in the tournament group still managed to top the group and send them packing. A slender defeat tonight in a game that could have gone either way against an excellent side. A Croation team that gave Messi and his Argentinian mates a good hiding in the group stages. Pub teams I don’t think so.

Not fake news guys, this is really happening. It goes on to say that Chelsea also interested in Seri and Nice have held talks with Napoli and Dortmund. I don't know any more details on why Nice wants to sell him, but if i heard the rumour right? Seri is in danger of going on a free which Nice are trying to avoid. Chelsea are having their problems with Conte, staying or going right now, and maybe in the grand scheme of things, Seri if he is sensible? would be best avoiding all the politics that are going on right now at Chelsea. Who is to say that if Conte goes, that the new manager would want Seri anyway??? Seriously, if Slavisa rates this guy highly and everything falls right for us, it will be a major coup for our club Fulham and a serious statement of intent to start the prem. Everything is hush hush until after semi-final and maybe World Cup finals. It would be nice to see some transfer activity, but feeding scraps will do for now...
Replies
Managers at CFC don’t get to pick the players the club buys and from what I read Seri doesn’t fancy FFC in any case so believe it when I see something on the official website. Until then, it’s not official.

Done their homework on the Belgians, but hate their conservative negative football killing style that doesn't set any fireworks alight. Fcuk em, roll on England.
Replies
I think the effort put in by Belgium in beating Brazil took a lot out of them, because they didn't play up to their previous standard, and Dembele - a fresh pair of legs - just didn't perform. I think that would handicap Croatia as well, because they've played two body-sapping 120 minutes matches and two mind-sapping penalty deciders. I see them being jaded after that, which is a bonus for England. Again my main concern is that Southgate will field the same team, which is justified by saying 'why change a winning formula?' and countered by the fact that the 2nd choice players are just as proficient - unlike FFC, England has strength in depth and can afford to freshen-up the team. Why? Because English players get too comfortable 'knowing' they're going to get picked, and any new ones coming in will play their heart out to retain their place. Example - Kane had a very poor match last time out by his standards. While I wouldn't omit him, I'd be sure to give him a kick up the backside that he has to earn his place in the final, if and when we get there. and that goes for other weak performers.
posted by stephen terry (Guest) - Wednesday 11th July 2018, 7:08 AM

IMO, in his match it is critical for us to use the wings and inject pressure on the Croatian defence from the off. For starters I'd rest Trippier, move Young to RB, use Walker as RWB and bring in Rose as LB. I'd rest Sterling for Rashford, and replace Lingard at half-time with Vardy (unless he's playing extremely well). Whatever, Vardy has to come on to the field by the hour mark at the latest, as a target man which would take the pressure off Kane who can play just behind him.----- No doubt, though, Southgate will play exactly the same team, which by now, both Croatia and France will be tactically aware of how to exploit our weaknesses.
posted by stephen terry (Guest) - Wednesday 11th July 2018, 7:51 AM

You have to be kidding. I would certainly give Rose a start but Young should be right back in the team hotel, he's been about as much use as a chocolate tea pot. I suspect Southgate will stick to the tried and tested though.

Croatia is all about stopping their midfield. They’re strengths are similar to ours last season. France will require a total rethink cos our formation leaves gaps at wing back they are strong everywhere but the think our formation plays into their hands. Southgate will have to be brave to change anything cos if we then lose those change will get the blame.

Ronaldo “carried” Portugal to a European Championship and has won trophies at three different clubs. Messi needs world class players around him to achieve and that’s why he has won nothing with Argentina. Ronaldo streets ahead of Messi for me but needs a personality transplant.

But, in what is quickly becoming one of the sagas of the summer, Loic Tanzi of RMC Sport has since claimed that, though the clubs are in negotiations, no agreement has been reached, with Seri favouring other destinations:

It is just my view that you tend not to fix what ain't broke and replacing and experienced coach with a novice would not be my go to plan but as you write, what do I know ;0)?.

Its obvious he has been pushed out to make way for Parker which is a shame because I thought SG did an excellent job helping get FFC promoted . Also I'm not a big fan of Parker he didn't bring anything to the team as a player and just hope he is not being lined up to replace our terrific manager .

Parker didn't bring anything to the team as a player? Couldn't disagree more, but everyone is entitled to an opinion and you won't get any criticism from me for having a different one to me on this subject!

Danny Murphy was a Colossus for FFC compared to SP sorry Chris he was well past his sell by date when he arrived at The Cottage and we needed so much more at the time.

Fulham win race for Seri According to Gianluca Di Marzio, Fulham will win the race to sign Jean-Michael Seri from Nice. The Ivorian midfielder was closely linked with west London rivals Chelsea, but it seems Fulham will pip their neighbours to the 26-year-old. That’s some statement of intent from the Cottagers. Chelsea look set to miss out on transfer target Jean Seri with the Nice midfielder sensationally on his way to Fulham, reports Gianluca Di Marzio.

Seri has entered the final 12 months of his current Nice deal and the Ligue 1 side want to sell this summer rather than losing him for free at the end of next season.

The Ivory Coast international came close to joining Barcelona last summer before the Spanish side sensationally pulled the plug on a deal at the death.

Seri has a £35m release clause but Fulham have sensationally agreed a deal with their French counterparts in the region of €20m (£17.7m).

Fulham still need to agree personal terms with the 26-year-old and Craven Cottage is not Seri’s preferred destination

And he said he don't want to go to Fulham! so I guess he calls the shots.Believe it when he runs out of the dressing room onto the pitch.

News just flashed up on my phone. Apparently, we have beaten Chelsea and Arsenal to his signature. News goes on to say, SLAVISA JOKANOVIC HAS PULLED OFF A HUGE COUP BY PERSUADING THE IVORY COAST STAR TO JOIN FULHAM!!!! I believe the fee is in excess of 17.5 million. Even if it isn't true? Fulham are in business and competing with the big boys. There are too many negatives on this forum, and people believing that we won't survive the prem. It looks like Slavisa has other ideas, and with the signing of Cairney and Sess, and Ream + we are being positively serious about competing and staying in the prem. 'TOP 8 GUYS??? Seriously, we can dream!!! If the likes of Huddersfield can survive, and we had the beating of them, so can Fulham. Slavisa is a better tactical manager than Wagner, Benitez, and,Chris Houghton in my books, and he will prove it this season. This is better than the World Cup!!!!

As we seem no wiser on new signings, has anyone a list of those who are being shown the door?

Arizonan' not sure who is going or coming, but you have to admit that it is an intriguing and exciting period for Fulham in general. Get the World Cup out of the way, and surely then everything will be revealed. We don't do things quickly like our neighbours West Ham. They have just tied up Wiltshere to a 3 year deal, paying him 100 grand a week. We have to be careful, but we are not short on cash, and i think that Slavisa will make good calls regarding transfers. I suspect that we will have the services of Mitrovic, and along with Cairney, Reamy, etc, i am very excited. We are in the prem dude, how exciting is that...

A month from today and the transfer window closes, how can you lot keep saying relax dear boy, when time is getting short and even Mitrovic, who was supposed to be signing, has shown no signs of doing so. I am getting more than a little bit concerned.

He can say relax because like most of us he knows that we can do nothing but wait for new players to be announced so chill enjoy the weather and wait fro the world cup to be over

I can’t believe how far down the pecking order Woodrow has fallen! We had many teenagers and many of whom will not make the squad next year selected for the Crawley game, instead we played Woodrow in the u23 friendly against Southend. I feel really bad for him as he’s a true fulham boy, came through the academy with Roberts and Dembele. He played with most of the England players (Pickford, Sterling, Kane, dyer, etc) at U21 level, and at one point, our main striker. He always give 110% to Fulham. I am a stronge believer in loyalty, and I really hope the club give him another chance in the first team. There is not another player in Fulham I’d like more to do well! Good luck Woodrow!

Could not get in Bristol City team when on loan last season did not always even make bench so won’t be good enough for Premiership

With good Academy Foundations led by Jennings and Wigley, and with Joka liking to use younger Players to unearth a Diamond as with Ryan Sessegnon,so Woodrow probably be surplus to requirements. Sad to say I always liked him as he always give his best.

I have to say that I don't see a lot of difference between Woodrow and Kamara with regard to skill, tactical awareness, dedication and endeavor although Kamara might just shade it on strength. Sadly however, I fear that neither are good enough for the Premier League and doubt either will make it at FFC.

Difference between Woodrow and KAMARA is KAMARA scares defenders with his pace could surprise this season if only from bench he’s still improving Woodrow has stoped

They both could be useful if we get relegated. Best keep them on the books as they're both probably on relatively low wages. Loan them out to cut costs ?

DMK' i am in agreement with you on Kamara, and i think he will show more improvement. Funny how Slavisa used Kamara to aid and plot our Wembley win went unnoticed? MST missed something there. If Kamara doesn't make the grade, i will eat my sock, and i wonder what MST will forfeit if he loses this wager on 'KAMARA'??? By the way, socks in my house is equivalent to strawberries!!!!

Ollie' relegation is not an option, where is your ambition? We have won a playoff on one of the grandest stages in history. possibly bigger than the World Cup! Show some ambition! Newcastle. Huddersfield and Brighton stayed up, we can too. As for Kamara? If he shows some more improvement, we might not need another striker. Tom Cairney would be weeping if he read your post, he as just signed on for another 5 years. I don't think Cairney signed up for any more championship charges. Come on Ollie' pull yourself together, we can do this!!!
