Fulham boss Slavisa Jokanovic believes his side can keep playing their passing game in the Premier League next season, but is aware he will need to bolster his squad this summer. The Whites sealed promotion by beating Aston Villa 1-0 in the Championship play-off final at Wembley on Saturday. "We believe we can play this way," he said. "We must show ambition but we must know that next season we will probably not win as many games as at this level. "In general, we must try to dominate the teams we believe we can dominate against." Recruitment will be key for the Whites, who had five loanees in their matchday squad against Villa - while right-back Ryan Fredericks has yet to agree a new contract at Craven Cottage. "Credit to my players, because many of them will be Premier League players next year," added Serb Jokanovic. "We must be brave and strong to build something a little bit different. To show ambition, we're going to need to show the money too." After masterminding Fulham's rise up the table and eventual promotion following his appointment in December 2015, Jokanovic will know Fulham will have to adapt back into life in the Premier League following a four-year absence from the England's top flight. Players praise Jokanovic Fulham have won admirers for their style of play over the past two seasons, and 49-year-old Jokanovic has become the first manager from outside the British Isles to win two promotions to the Premier League, adding to his success with Watford in 2014-15. The Cottagers finished third in the table this season after their 23-match unbeaten run came to an end on the final day of the campaign - and Serbia striker Aleksandar Mitrovic paid tribute to his compatriot after their success under the arch in north London. "He made a system that every player enjoys and feels comfortable playing in," the on-loan Newcastle man told BBC Sport. "We have played unbelievable football this season and Slavisa and his staff did an unbelievable job." Aleksandar Mitrovic tries to control the ball in the play-off final against Aston Villa Mitrovic was an integral part of Fulham's bid for automatic promotion after joining in January Fredericks, who says his future is "up to people behind the scenes", added: "We were saying before the game that we only knew how to play one way. "If we bottled it and tried to play a different way we would have lost the game. To play our style on the highest occasion is credit to the manager. "The way he sets us up gives us the freedom to play and the lads that are out there are brave on the ball." Holding on to players Promotion means Fulham are far more likely to keep hold of their crown jewels, captain Tom Cairney and winger Ryan Sessegnon, who may have been prised away from south west London if the Whites had missed out on promotion. Both have attracted interest from Premier League sides but Scotland international Cairney, who scored the winner at Wembley, has decided to stay with the Cottagers, while 18-year-old Sessegnon has previously stated his desire to play for the Whites in the top flight. Fulham will certainly be interested in a permanent move for Mitrovic, after the 23-year-old provided a focal point to their attack and contributed 12 goals in 20 appearances following his January switch. Ryan Sessegnon and Tom Cairney celebrate Fulham's play-off final win Teenager Sessegnon and Cairney were both nominated for the EFL's Championship Player of the Year award, which Sessegnon won "I came to a team who played the football that is really good for me and my ability," he said. "Credit to my team-mates, the staff and the club because they gave me a lot of support from the first minute I came here. They trusted me and I feel like I have been here a few years, not a few months." Centre-back Tim Ream told BBC Radio London: "We know there will be changes as that happens every season. "But this team wanted to at least give ourselves a chance to play together in the Premier League." Odoi's relief as Whites hold on Centre-back Denis Odoi was probably the most thankful man inside Wembley at the full-time whistle on Saturday, as his sending-off with 20 minutes remaining meant the Cottagers had to soak up pressure in the closing stages. "It was so unfortunate but I am so relieved," the 30-year-old Belgian told BBC Radio London. "I think anybody in my place would worry about a negative outcome. Getting sent off sucked." Tomas Kalas, who has spent the past two seasons on loan at Fulham from Chelsea, was thrown on for the final 13 minutes as they sought to see the game out. "It wasn't much about football, it was about the team spirit and the way we handled it towards the end was superb," said the Czech defender. "All together the quality, team spirit and everything came at the right time and that is why we won." Denis Odoi celebrates Fulham's promotion by climbing on the Wembley crossbar Belgian defender Odoi got a great view of Fulham's post-match celebrations by climbing onto a crossbar at Wembley Goalkeeper Marcus Bettinelli was in the thick of the celebrations at the end of the game, picking up a smoke bomb and celebrating in front of the Fulham fans with it while his team-mates streaked across the pitch and enjoyed a pile-on by the goalline. "We went into the second half and said it would be tough as Villa would throw the whole kitchen sink at us," said the 26-year-old. "We had another mountain to climb when Denis got sent off but we have had loads of those this season. "We stayed strong, resolute and determined and got there in the end. "We had one aim this season and Slavisa has taken us back to the Premier League - where we belong."

Jok said: "We must show ambition but we must know that next season we will probably not win as many games as at this level. "In general, we must try to dominate the teams we believe we can dominate against." Yes, it's going to be a tough season, and our squad must be strengthened as injuries will be commonplace. Good news is that our style of play would attract good EPL targets, and I see us reaching a mid-table position, with a view of improving each season. But money must be spent to refresh our squad to achieve a crack at Euro football.

Just flown back home and first thing has been to watch the highlights with G J commentary. Atmosphere was unprecedented and both when we scored and at the final whistle the mutual erruption of congrats, handshakes and hugs between families and unknowns was just incredible. It was specially emotional looking at some of the much older fans finding it hard to explode such joy as if in a state of "weve done it, I cant believe it". A brilliant performance by all present and a mention to Sess after the match braking away from the team and with FFC flag in hand leaving clear to all where his heart lies
Replies
one of the real special moments for me when watching the highlights was up on the balcony seeing slavisa with his arm round mitro, well done everyone at ffc what a great day out COYW

A brilliant goal well worthy of winning the game. Although there is no doubt that both Sessegnon's wonderful run and lay off and Cairney's exquisite shot should get a lot of the plaudits I wonder why Johansen's precise pass to Sessegnon which started the move did not get more of a mention. A great team goal however and an unforgettable match.

Enjoy your summer folks and we can all look forward to a great season In THE PREMIERSHIP - don't sound bad does it?

How much is Mr Ryan Sessegon worth now! We just have to hold onto him for a season or two. He will need better players to play with in the Premiership and a decent defence is an essential to any winning team. Is Alekander Mitrovic good enough for the Premiership? Rafa did not think so nor do I! Sorry. Signing Gareth Bale as someone on Radio 5 Live this morning suggested is poppycock. The only thing I do not want Fulham to do is to sign a lot of has beens on the cheap like Gareth Barry, never a great player. The Management must set some store by what Mr Janonvik our Manager wants because he will know the ability of the sort of players we need to sign and they are available at reasonable prices I can assure you!
Replies
First we have to give Sess a new 4 or 5 year contract. Mitro doesn’t suit Rafa style of boring defensive football but for us, he’s perfect - at least until we are ready to fight for the top 8. Next we have to resolve Fredericks situation either way. If he goes we have Christie so not the end of the world. We also have to reward Cairney with another long term contract. He could really shine in the premier league. Premier league will suit Piazon and Fonte so we should look to keep both. Finally, we need to decide who plays on the right wing? Possibly Piazon. Kamara is not proven and not sure Aiyte or Kabano are good enough. So need a lot of work here. I am just so happy that we can debate who we want to keep and sell, and buy without the worry they won’t come or we cannot afford!!

It's been widely reported that West Ham would like to sign Ryan Fredricks and that they should just walk in and take him. The arregance is outstanding. What makes these deluded people think that even if we didn't get promotion he would go to a soulless club like West Ham. A none club now it's had the heart and soul ripped from it by its clueless owners. I could almost feel sorry for them if I didn't think it has happened to a better club

What a fairytale rise for Sessegnon. Makes his debut 2 years ago to incredulity from his teammates, to this seasons top scorer and set up the winning goal at Wembley to clinch promotion to the Premier League. I wonder if he had to pinch himself when he woke up to see it was all just a dream or not.
Replies
Yes he's had an incredible journey, and seems to be so humble which is refreshing nowadays. I also had to pinch myself when I woke up this morning to make sure yesterday wasn't just a dream!

I would like to offer my sincere thanks to all involved at Brentford Football Club. It would have been nice to go up the conventional way but thanks to your last gasp equaliser at the Cottage you treated us all to a bonus day out at Wembley. You really are a thoughtful bunch hope you enjoyed yesterday’s game as much as we did.

I am so pleased that we made it yesterday, as I think that nest season Championship, is going to be even more difficult to get out of. With Stoke, WBA, and Swansea joining the fray, and clubs like Derby Middlesboro' PNE, Villa fighting it out for the top, It's going to be one hell of a battle.

I wonder how the Villa supporters must have felt when they returned home to find the blue half of the city wildly celebrating our win. I remember before our last league game, a Birmingham City supporter saying on this forum. If you let us win this game so we can stay up, we will all be right behind you to beat Villa in the final at Wembley. Even he couldn't have truly imagined that his wishes would have come true.

Anyone aware any plans by the club for a victory parade? I notice other clubs have held parades simply for staying up so we deserve one.

Sounds good but to be honest if you had a parade there would be nothing worse if at least , 20,000 people did not turn up the local support and a lot of Fulham Familes have move'd out not saying they would not attend they surly did yesterday.i would love it . In 75 there was street party's when we lost the final, never seen since even with what that other lot up the road has won I can remember the local police sayin'what would have happen'd if we had won . good to see so many youngster's there yesterday how lucky are they watching their team win at Wembley so early in life, future fan's let's hope so you lucky people

Why is that the lot up the road always have an open top bus celebration and a party laid on at Fulham town hall the day after they have won something. Sounds like the local council are showing their true co;ours. Or am I just find an excuse to moan about our noisy neighbours.

Perhaps as we are still over the moon after yesterday we can organise a whip round to send poor old Steve Bruce for an eye test at Specsavers. He quite rightly bemoaned the fact that Ryan Fredericks was allowed to stay on the field, yet somehow missed the potential leg breaker of a tackle by Grealish on Cairney. How does the saying go "There are none so blind as those who will not see". Anyway, still walking around with a daft grin on my face as I imagine are most of you!

Well there are a few large eggs on faces after yesterday's wonderful result, and have to include myself in that. I just had an awful feeling that the so called experts, were going to be right and that Villa's experienced players would see them home. I can't wait to listen to Talksport's Alan Brazil and his cronies tomorrow morning, to see what they have to say. Mind you it will probably be all about Liverpool losing. I still find that I am finding it hard to believe we are actually back in the Premier League, and that my wife will wake me up and say that I have been dreaming. One thing I will say, is that I can't remember being so hot watching a game, so goodness knows how our players, with only 10 men, managed to survive. However, survive they did, and so it's congratulations all around to everyone on and off the field, at our fantastic club. Oh what a day.

Agree that Grealish's tackle on Tom was a shocker, but given the way that our lads were taking turns to clatter Grealish, not surprised that the referee showed him a bit of leniency.

I agree with Dellers and Len further down. He's a brat with a bad haircut. He stood out in a team of underperformers but his attitude wouldn't fit to well with our reputation for sportsmanship and fair play, witness the extremely dangerous challenge yesterday. He's skilful alright but would have to replace the dane (in Bish-speak) and I think Johansen is worth keeping. As for Odoi, I think he's a liability and saw that red coming a mile off. Good all round player but too easily wound up. Your milage may vary ...

Massive respect to the team and Jokanovic. What a tense match and what a brilliant day as all our fans have said below. Aston Villa were very much as expected with Grealish being the only real threat. Our performance when we went down to 10 men was astounding and credit the team and Jokanovic. Ream was outstanding and would be my man of match. Looking ahead the club must support Jokanovic and I like what he is already saying, the hard work getting back into the Premier league must not be lost. We are a club that is more than capable of competing in the Premier league and I would already back us against half the the league. With useful additions we could have a mid table finish. I suspect we need to move quickly we are already a couple of weeks behind other teams in our planning. Difficult task knowing which players to release but we need, a striker (poss Mitrovic), two centre backs (cover for Ream who should definitely stay), a left back (not sure Targett is Prem level), a top class centre midfielder, and a number 10 type player. that would be my wish list. We probably need to spend at least £60 million on transfer fees (is that possible?).
Replies
The 3 year plan has bared fruit, now what will happen in year 4?,top 7So I xpect to see several loans coming in again with may be position ?, you have to think big the prem seems to be getting less harder so why not, wishfull thinking , . What bothers me now is at least 6 players will go back, may be taggart and mitri are worth keeping if possible but think the rest are prem fodder exepting, the remaining squad, cairney sess ,betts, the dane, ream, kamara, take them out and we aint got much ,we could need at least 6-8 players in and to be a lot better than present squad. So expect to see more loans in with just a few bigger names.

With the Saints escaping relegation by the skin of their teeth, I'm guessing that Hughes will want him back at St Mary's? Which would be a pity, because he's made a great contribution at Fulham. Fair to say that Targett and Mitrovich the two most important signings of the season.

We need a few proven premier league players. We should give johansen a chance to see if he can adapt at a higher lever. So No for Me. I wouldn't mind getting Dembele back from Spurs and maybe Moreno from Liverpool for our left back. Two proven premier league players. then we just need a strong experienced defender to probably replace Odoi/Kalas - who both would make good back-ups.

I just wanted to say, what an unbelievable day yesterday, I have been a fan all my life, watched the good and bad, losing the 75 cup final and of course the europa league. But yesterday beat anything I have witnessed as a Fulham fan, from the moment I arrived at the Bedford arms with my son, the open top bus journey to Wembley, the Torch pub, the atmosphere in the stadium, and of course the natch itself. Back to torch then open top back to the Golden lion. I want to say thank you to those that organised it, and made this the best Fulham day in my life, and well done to all the Fulham fans for a cracking atmosphere. Onwards and upwards, Fulham till I die

After all the bravado on this board over the last two weeks you’d think at least one of them would come on here to recognise that the best attacking AND defending team won. Fantastic day out - I’ve been to Wembley a few times and that is the loudest and best atmosphere I’ve ever experienced. Day only slightly spoiled by some daft Villa fan having a verbal go at my Son on the way back to the car. Summer will be interesting. COYSW!!
Replies
Good point. Suspect they are licking their wounds and still think I. How unlucky they were to lose. Just watched the skysports video highlight - the editor must be one of those Villa fans came on this board because the highlight was so Villa biased. It didn’t so many of the chances we had, domination and if you’d just watched that, you’d think villa dominated the entire game! Anyway, it doesn’t matter! Everyone in the stadium know the better team on the day won. The team played better football on the day won. The team wth more points over the season are promoted. And finally, tthe dirtier team (Bruce complaining about Fredericks- what about that tackle from Grealish on Cairney - career ending tackle!) lost on the day! Apart from Bruce no one will complain the result!

Have read most press reports, and they are reporting it very well. Basically, the better team won

Having seen Fulham lose at Wembley in the 75 final,I wondered if we would happen again, sad day that was. We deserved to win it and Villa got what they deserved, nothing. Fredericks could have been sent off but so could Grealish for his attrocious tackle on Cairney. Play offs are great when you win them but murder if you lose. Really I think if a team finnishes third in the division, that should be it, they have already earnt the right over the season for an automatic promotion place. Although the sight of watching them win at Wembley is something, as a Fulham fan, I will not forget. Great stuff Fulham and congratulations. COYW

Congratulations to shahid Khan. I get annoyed when people still criticise him and those who still sing MAF songs. I defended Khan when he’s been under attack here and I am now even more convinced he will be a better chairman than MAF, and with real budget to show for it. While we been in the championship, the club now has better training facility, healthier balance sheet, better squad of young players and money committed to expand the stand. I challenge anyone still have doubts about Khan. Yes, he has other agenda such as his Jaguar team playing in London and buying Wembley but non of which are detrimental to the fulham football club or the brand. I trust Khan that now we are promoted and not bound as much by the FFP, we will spend some money but very wisely. It is about time for the fans to show Khan some respect and stop singing that stupid MAF song! Congratulations and thank-you Mr Khan!
Replies
John' you are right! I also think that Khan is no Micky Mouse. He knows the challenge of the premiership, and buying players like Mitrovic is a must! Saying that, Mitro is hoping for a good world cup campaign, and he might have bigger ambitions than Fulham. He is an old fashion hold up player that suits us, and i just wonder how many big clubs will come in for him. I think he should take the hint and stay with Fulham, because everything is ticking for him at the cottage. It doesn't always work out swopping clubs and he may well find that out the hard way. What isn't broke, don't fix it! Mitr could have a happy 5 years at Fulham if he chooses to. 100 AND 70 odd million? Khan can loosen the purse strings a bit and buy a few experienced players to help our cause. We are in a good place now. Sessegnon can well afford to stay with us another season, and there are a few more 000's on his price now. Imagine Villa's position? They have 5 or so loan players, and most likely we will witness an exodus. That is the price of failure to get back to the prem. PHEEW!!!! Breathe a sigh of sweet relief guys!!!!! That was a close call, but we can sleep easy now.....
posted by OWEN (Guest) - Sunday 27th May 2018, 12:14 AM

John, I do agree hole heartedly about Khan and fans should now realise his true intentions for the club. But there is no reason to stop singing about MAF. All clubs up and down the country sing about passed heroes , why shouldn't we. If it wasn't for him we wouldn't be where we are today and we shouldn't forget that. So let's remember Mo in are songs and make new ones for are new heroes. COYW

After a brilliant 45 minutes Villa came out with intent. They got on top but our defence held, which surprised me. Cannot praise the lads too highly, especially after the sending off (will SJ risk playing D.O. in the EPL?). Having spent a few sleepless nights since April, I can now relax and put in my 8 hours uninterrupted. I'm sure a few of you will do likewise. With all those millions coming in, will SJ get the players he needs for the EPL. I'm thinking 3 or 4 defenders and 1 forward, probably cost net 60-70 million but it will be worth it to keep us up.
Replies
SJ prefers Odoi to Kalas, and he did score the winner against Derby, so I don't think SJ will want to lose him. He may not make the starting 11 next season, but is still a useful defender who can cover any position in the back line.

Jokanovic Fulham Coach Slavisa Jokanovic Fulham Coach Slavisa Jokanovic Other Slavisa Jokanovic Stories Fulham striker Aboubakar Kamara Fulham striker Aboubakar Kamara More Aboubakar Kamara Stories His Wiki page Fulham boss Slavisa Jokanovic says he is ready to use Aboubakar Kamara as an “important weapon” in the play-off final against Aston Villa. Kamara was influential on the right wing in the semi-final second-leg win over Derby and Jokanovic wants to use him to similar effect at Wembley. Jokanovic, who wants his side to pressure and tire Villa centre-backs John Terry and James Chester, said: “We signed Kamara like a striker, who can play up against the centre-backs. “I tried to adapt us to use him the best way, but two months ago I explained to him that now this position is covered and we are going to start with Aleksandar Mitrovic, and he needed to open his mind and think about different positions. “He is a really strong and fast player and we started working with him in different positions, and step-by-step he started to improve himself. “He played very well against Derby and he is ready for the game and can be an important weapon for our side. “I can't say who we are going to start with. It”s going to be a long game and we are going to see. “It’s important for us to force them. If we don’t make them tired it’s going to be easy, especially for their two centre-backs. “So I am going to try to use my best weapons, and the game can be long so we are going to use the bench too to try and force the situation.
