It seems to me that someone should try a few options with the nearly talent we have.

Jol tried Richardson at left back. I thought he did OK. His problem is that he is injury prone and we made a mistake buying him. That said he's a trier and works for the team. Get fit or go.

Why not give Rodellega a try in mid field. He's built like the proverbial BSH, he's fast, he reads the game well and he can pass a ball. One thing he cannot do (evidence at FFC and Wigan) is score goals. Change him or get rid.

Briggs is no left back. Left alone he struggles. Put him into midfield. He's strong, quick and good tackler. Worth a try, surely.

Remember Bobby Robson. He thought he was an inside forward (old days) but at WBA discovered he was really a half back - and a damn good one at that.
Replies
Sorry but Richardson is rubbish, along with Senderos he should be sent packing.

No use either of them to our team.

Why is he so special ? Any manager would of been given the boot with 3 loses in 3 games! He's better off without it anyway. that must be the worst job in football we had 3/4 top player that couldn't be bothered to show or played for the senior team. That is only an excuse in England as all other country's make there youngsters join up with there under 21 teams when they are finished with the senior side.

You are right, there are no kids coming through and the future is not looking bright.

Therefore the guy who has been in charge of the U21 side for 6 years now is presumably one of the principal people accountable for that*!!

With two miserable tournaments now, he surely has to go.

Shame, I like the guy. As much as one can like a psycho.

* I appreciate that the PL clubs' attitude to (not) letting players play international football these days is not in any way helpful...

Pearce is a born loser. All he has is a faux patriotism and pretend 'psycho' image. Sorry but his managerial record is pathetic, I think you do actually need some tactical awareness in football, not just blood and guts. It's no wonder our u21's struggled with that no-brain racist in charge. I hope he never gets another job in or around football. Do us all a favour and join the army, go to afgan', blow yourself up..be a 'hero'.
Pearce, I'll never forgive you for Italia 90, and the big fuss you made when you scored in euro96...don't bloody miss the first pen you retarded prick!

ok so why has it all come to a stop? no players joining ffc, been watching others slowly locating the odd players villa now have a 6-5 striker 1.5 mill to join bendecne and one other and I am sure teams around us will also do the job all quoting large fees.even Norwich not flinching at 6-10 mill, will we bring in a 5-4 western samoan striker on last day of august? Tahiti maybe;;;;; but with Johnson and ruiz nothing supprises me. jol has to spread his wings further that Europe,oh yeh w-ham and carroll now that could be suicide.

I get really pissed off when I'm told nothing can be done because THE MAN is on holiday or sick or something.

Even Cameron and Milliband have deputies and before you start, I'm talking about the post, not the man.

He has had a lot to say about having a settled squad ! when in actual fact he is one of the main reasons we don't have a settled squad with his sending off's and yellow cards..fans are running out of patience with him.
Replies
Reading between the lines, he wants Jol to stop unsettling the squad, falling out with players and selling them! It would be okay if he brought in adequate replacements.

If you treat players poorly, the truth is that they will not play as well for you and it will not encourage others to join. Schwarzer is a great example. The Club would have known for quite some time that they weren't going to keep him, so should have been given a proper send-off in his last game.

I actually think we were right to replace him - he's nearly 41 and, although he finished the season strongly, there were some question marks about his form early season. I love the guy and respect how good he was for us for such a long period of time, but if you get the chance to buy someone of Stekenenberg's ability, then it's a no-brainer.

I just think that Jol constantly fails on the personal side of management. Make those players work hard for you and respect you. Seems a little strange, given that is why he was reportedly so good at Spurs.

You dont give anyone a send off unless they are going and until we signed the Roma keeper Schwartz wasnt going.

You never know in football what will happen until its all signed off - like when Schwartz was off to Arsenal.

£4m for Scott Parker - crazy. Buy Huddlestone. Spurs want Parker gone cos he has lost it. He is not anor Murphy.

I read Sunderland are offering 4 million pounds for Scott Parker and that amount should be sufficient to sign him. I think Parker would be a great signing for Fulham, just what the doctor ordered. Offer 5 million for him. I think he is a very good player who could only help Fulham. He is hard working and a good passer from the midfield. Sell Sidwell for 2 million and sign Parker. Any thoughts?

Parker a great fetcher and carrier, but we need a playmaker. Huddlestone if fit has a tremendous range of passing, also has played centre back in an emergency. Class footballer, I think problems with weight and work rate overstated, really hope he signs for FFC

Definitely sign him. Quality player.

England CM not long ago. Exactly the position we need strength. He may be regarded as being injury prone and old - fine, he's 32 (33 in October), but I think his only real 'injury hit' season was last season.

Probably worth a gamble for £4m. Surely we can sell ourselves to him better than Sunderland can...

I think we'd get at least two solid seasons from him.

I would take a risk for £4m. If and i know its a big IF he stays fit then he is the sort of leader we have been lacking all season. A midfeld player who can go box to box and put his foot in and play a bit. Ok he is just coming over the hill but wasnt Murphy when we got him, he will want to put in a good perfomance to try and stay in the England picture so lets take a risk.

Think we should be raiding Spurs this summer, Huddlestone, Parker, Defoe, Assou Ekott all look out of favour and would all do a turn for us.

Only problem is they would no doubt want kacaniclik in return who i see as being a star for us next season in a forward role.

Parker is better than any central midfielder currently on Fulham's squad, although I do admit he is often injured. I would prefer to sign Huddlestone, but don't think he will be available since he played so much towards the end of the season and provides Tottenham with excellent cover. I'd take any of the Spurs players who may be available, what about Livermore? Assou Akato? Dafoe would be a perfect poacher to partner with Berbatov.

We constantly see teams like benefica and Porto bringing a steady stream of world class talent from south America on the cheap and then sell them on at a huge profit. why have a club like fulham, who more Or less depend on sell on money for transfers, not looked into this?? The same goes with teams like shaktar, why is it they can extract unheard of stars straight out of brazil and we can't. Jol constantly complain of English and european players being too expensive so why hasn't he had a look over the Atlantic??

I think you will find that it has to do with passports, visas and the right to work. I don't want to remind everyone of Okori Prosper's case, but the truth is that some countries will offer the right to work, even a passport, to immigrants far more easily than will the UK. If a South American finds he can get a Portuguese passport, claiming family links, then following that he can quickly move to any country within the EU. He has both advertised his skills with a Portuguese team (or Spain, another of the usual suspects) and made himself available for anywhere in the EU, such as the Premier League, when only a short time before he couldn't even have got off a plane to get in here. There are a lot of sharp agents pushing their boys through the various governments' red tape. One little stamp and you've made a fortune. But it's a dirty business. Enough to make you vote UKIP.

Anyone else noticed how his finishing has been improving this year? Look at many of the goals he has scored (including those for Sweden)and you can see his potential. Take the game at Swansea for an example; he had two other good opportunities to score, one of which hit the crossbar and the other was palmed into the path of Urby for his goal. If Berbas had slipped him in for a tap in rather than finishing himself, Kaka could easily have gotten himself a hatrick. I suppose what I'm trying to say, is not only is he a better (and more quickly improving) player than Frei, but he could potentially play at striker. Before you slam the idea completely, just remember Dembele's transformation, and Samba (when he was good) at Blackburn into a striker for a bit as well. It's only something that I've thought about, rather than manically believing in the idea, but was just wondering how you all felt about it. [I expect Hints to have a rather controversial view on the subject]
Replies

I agree. Didn't berba have a strop (hard to believe I'm sure..) because he wanted Jol to play kaka upfront? I think they're a decent partnership and will only improve with time. Also, I know most people have been happy with our quick start in the transfer market but how many more do you think we will bring in? Obviously it would be good to see 2-3 more quality players added rather than the Richardson, rodallega signings and let the youth players come off the bench this year. Still need a creative midfielder to replace murphy and a striker to play off Berbatov, presuming kaka won't be playing there. Okori prosper anyone?

I dont think he has the build to be a striker but agree that he is a very good prospect. Hints I think the test of a young player isnt neccesarily whether he comes into the first team and holds down his place for the next 11 years (although that would be nice) but whether when they slip out of the starting 11 they come back as better players. Unlike Briggs or Frei he seems to have done this
posted by fortressfulham - Monday 17th June 2013, 10:54 PM

Fortress, it is a shame there is no archive here any more. I would be on record as saying he is one of the few who is on the same wavelength as Berbatov and we look a more potent force when they play together. However, he does tend drift in and out of games which may be down to his age. I agree he doesn't have the build to play up front and I suspect the real reason to put him out on loan was that Jol thought Richardson would take that position and Kaca would benefit from playing regularly. However, Richardson turned out to be woeful and Kaca was brought back in. I think he is an excellent proposition and we should try to keep him as I think he will only get better. BTW I completely agree about Briggs and Frei. Not too controversial I hope :)

Kieran Richardson

Fulham paid only £2m for Kieran Richardson on deadline day but the midfielder's poor performances over the course of the season underlined the club's failures in the transfer market. Although freebie duo Hugo Rodallega and Mladen Petric found the net only eight times in the Premier League, Richardson stood out as a particularly disappointing signing with Martin Jol questioning the 28-year-old's contribution in March: "He's lacking the spark and a little bit of fitness. Alex Kacaniklic is only 20 and Richardson should be better than him. But he hasn't been. I want him to do well and be better than what I've got." The criticism may have been a blow to Richardson but Jol knows he will also need to do better if Fulham are to avoid another difficult season.

Alou Diarra

Similar to Richardson at Fulham, Diarra seemed a relatively good piece of business for West Ham when he joined for £2m in August. A France international with more than 40 caps, Diarra was expected to bring quality and experience to the Hammers' midfield as they prepared for life back in the top flight. However, after making just a handful of appearances before Christmas the 31-year-old let Sam Allardyce have both barrels when he revealed his frustrations. "After a few weeks, I realised that there were a lot of lies," said Diarra. "I came to play, not to take an early retirement. I am positively at breaking point. Since my arrival at West Ham, I never spoke with the manager. Every day is 'Hello, goodbye'. There is no dialogue, no explanation." It's no surprise that he was quickly farmed out on loan back to Ligue 1.

Javi Garcia

Javi Garcia: Looks kind of rich at £16milion to be fair
.It was too obvious to include Scott Sinclair in this list considering almost everyone predicted the winger would play little part in City's season after his £8m move from Swansea. However, a great deal more was expected of Javi Garcia following the Spain international's deadline-day transfer from Benfica. For £16m, City must have expected more bang for their buck but rarely did Garcia justify his price tag during an underwhelming first year in England. Perhaps Manuel Pellegrini (if he's ever confirmed as City's new boss) will squeeze a bigger contribution out of Garcia next season, but at the moment the 26-year-old still has plenty to prove.

Nuri Sahin

After beating Arsenal to the loan signing of Nuri Sahin last summer, Liverpool and Brendan Rodgers were expecting big things from the midfielder. The Reds reportedly paid £2m to secure Sahin - as well as taking on the 24-year-old's wages - but his spell on Merseyside was as disappointing as it was short-lived. The Real Madrid loanee struggled to adapt to the Premier League and looked out of his depth when Arsenal cruised to a 2-0 win at Anfield in September. Sahin was hastily sent back to Spain before re-joining Borussia Dortmund, but there was a sting in the tail for Rodgers. "I did not fail at Liverpool. Brendan Rodgers wanted me to play as a number 10. But I do not play behind the strikers," said Sahin in March. "I talked to him and asked him why he was playing me there. It is not my real position. The coach could not answer me. Thank God I have left Brendan Rodgers."

Danny Graham

Although Danny Graham has only been at Sunderland for five months it's no surprise to read rumours that the club are already trying to recoup their £5m outlay. Graham failed to find the net in any of his 13 appearances for the Black Cats since signing in January and his abject displays left Paolo di Canio scratching his head shortly after his appointment. "When I arrived, in my opinion, Danny wasn't really fit enough in terms of playing in the Premier League," said Di Canio. "He had a long face during my first two or three training sessions and I thought 'Can he play football?'" Di Canio tried to lift Graham's confidence by backing the striker to fire Sunderland to safety but it now seems a possible transfer to Middlesbrough would suit all parties.

Fabio Borini and Joe Allen

Joe Allen: Has failed to produce Swansea form at Liverpool to date
.If you're handed £25m to spend in your first job at a big club it's important not to blow it all on two players with only one full season each at the top level. Brendan Rodgers may have known Fabio Borini and Joe Allen from his time at Swansea, but neither player proved they were worth such heavy investment in their debut campaign at Anfield. Borini may have been unfortunate with injuries but Liverpool will be expecting much more from the forward when he is available next season, while Allen faces a fight to win back his place from Jordan Henderson.

"He's been a massive revelation and it's great credit to Swansea and his upbringing that he has come in here and been arguably our best player," said Rodgers when discussing Allen in October. "And it's great for Liverpool supporters because they were probably not sure of the £15m fee - but they have been surprised. Joe's just got an in-built brain for football and life."

Despite the manager's claims, the jury is still out.

Matt Jarvis

Sam Allardyce can count himself rather fortunate that Davids Gold and Sullivan are willing to hand him a sizeable transfer budget this summer after West Ham found dreadful value in Matt Jarvis and Modibo Maiga last year. Maiga was perhaps worth a punt at £5m following an impressive spell at Sochaux but spending £10.75m to sign Jarvis from relegated Wolves always seemed ridiculous. The past 12 months have seen the winger slip further out of the England picture as he failed to provide a single assist in 32 appearances and, for such a hefty fee, you'd expect a damn sight more.

Esteban Granero and Stephane Mbia
After arguably the worst summer transfer window of any club in Premier League history, it's perhaps quite an achievement that Esteban Granero and Stephane Mbia stood out as particularly poor purchases for QPR. The duo arrived for a combined fee of around £14m but failed to justify their price tags and expensive wages as the Rs dropped into the Championship in embarrassing fashion. Granero finished on the winning side only twice in 27 matches, but Mbia deserves extra credit for confessing that he confused the club with Glasgow Rangers when he first signed, admitting that Mark Hughes didn't know if he was any good, and then tweeting Joey Barton asking to swap clubs so he could re-join Marseille.

Adam Johnson

Adam Johnson: Has shown only morsels of his talent so far at Sunderland
.Johnson typifies Sunderland's failure to find value in the transfer market in recent years after joining the Black Cats for £10.5m last summer. It was widely thought that Roberto Mancini held Johnson back at Man City but the winger's displays in 2012/13 proved once and for all that he alone was responsible for his lack of playing time at the Etihad. A late burst of form under Paolo di Canio failed to hide Johnson's poor contribution over the course of the season as Sunderland battled relegation. The club's supporters will be hoping for much more consistency from the winger and his teammates next season.

Chris Samba

Harry Redknapp may believe QPR can still recoup their £12m outlay on Samba but it's unlikely many clubs will be willing to match the defender's enormous £100,000-a-week wages at Loftus Road. The Rs paid £1.56million (in wages and transfer fee) for each point they gained since signing Samba in January and such a risky gamble on survival always looked foolish. If he stays, QPR will hope Samba leads them back into the top flight at the first attempt, and lord knows they need to win promotion after the financial catastrophe of last season.

totally agree, Richardson is a terrible footballer and an even worse person. Still can't believe we signed him. Utterly useless, simply at the cottage for a nice pay packet each week. The sooner we ship this waste of space out, the better. I hope you read this KR. You don't fit at Fulham, bog off.

Entirely agree about Richardson, a complete waste of space as a footballer, along with Senderos the two of them should be sent packing.

Don't know what possessed us to sign either of these 2 awful players.

completely agree; after two games I realised how useless he was- may i suggest Briggs as new left back? So that instead of wasting valuable cash on a new LB, we can instead focus on a creative CM or a new striker/CF to either help or take some pressure of berba.

Besiktas have made an enquiry for Fulham winger Kerim Frei. The Black Eagles are interested in a permanent move or a loan deal with a future buyout option.

Fulham are yet to respond however, the Cottagers have been reluctant to let go of their 19-year-old prospect.

Kerim was born in Feldkirch, Austria but raised in Switzerland by his Turkish father and Moroccan mother. Kerim was first spotted by Swiss side Grasshoppers aged 13 and was snapped up by Fulham just three years later.

After rising through the youth ranks the Fulham starlet was given his Premier League debut on 10 December 2011, in an away match against Swansea City aged just 18. Kerim went onto make 36 appearances for the Cottagers that season.

The tricky young winger is not the most physical player but makes up for it with his individual skills, ability to take on defenders in one-on-one situations as well as his speed and acceleration.

Galatasaray have also been interested in Kerim and have been scouting the Turkish international winger over the past two seasons.

Besiktas have introduced a new policy under recently appointed club president Fikret Orman to play young players in the first team.

Former Arsenal youth Oguzhan Özyakup played regularly last season and the Eagles signed former Chelsea academy player Gökhan Töre on loan earlier this week.

Kerim's contract with Fulham runs until 2015, the young prospect is currently valued in the region of ?3 million.
