So we ended up 12th and with Wigan going down with 36 points it effectively meant we were safe in March. I know our recent form was poor and we had a scare near the end but we need to keep all of this in perspective. In respect Martin Jol he did his job this year in particular given we lost our midfield who were not replaced. I know we need to invest over the summer if we are to consolidate. Lets see!

Is bell end JOL going to play the ones that are going at the end of the season and the lot that need putting out to pasture MARKS not signed. So where is STOCKY. Where are the kids Iknow MARCELLO is playing at BRENTFORD. And hope they do it.But please for gods sake play the kids .ITS THE ONLY WAY FORWARDS.Some said that VILLA would go if they played their kids. But watch them next year.Or are we going to get left behind again looking up the table at every body else.See you at SWANSEA. And i think they are going to give us a lesson. COYS

Play the kids by all means as long as they are better than the oldies

But we know how the oldies play .Thats why we have lost the last six games. Untill we play the kids we wont know. But one game only to go how will we know. Should have started playing them months ago.Bit late now saying as long as they are better than the oldies. At least VILLA had the balls to stand by their manager. And he proved him self right.Thats why MARTIN ant got a clue.

GEZZER, Haven't Fulham stood by the manager? Do you want to moan about Jol or the club? Or just moan?

I stand (or sit) prepared to be shot down here. Isn't there a limted squad? Don't we have to name a squad at the start of the season and pretty much stick to that? As I say, I'm not sure but if that's the case then it would prevent us from making wholesale changes wouldn't it?
posted by Hints - Sunday 19th May 2013, 12:27 AM

Also...what kids are we talking about ?

You have to register 25 players at end of each transfer window. Players aged under 21 do not have to be registered.
posted by Luke (Guest) - Sunday 19th May 2013, 8:15 AM

I think he means those kids that haven't had a decent run out for Fulham like Dan Burn, Grimmer and Na Bangna, maybe even Moussa (Mark 2) and Tankovic from the under 18s. But realistically they aren't up to the grade yet! If by youngsters you mean Kaca, Frei, Briggs and Trotta, well they have had some decent opportunities so the ball is in their court to prove themselves. Only Kaca has really done that with any consistency.

Im beginning to warm to MJ as an individual ,a family man who could be a very good manager with the right backing. I hope he stays but he must be very very wary however of the club management who have a history going right back to the days of Trinder in the 60s of getting rid of their best players. The management were always notorious for knowing the price of every player but the value of none. Hopefully they will prove me wrong next season.

And Ronnie Rooke to Arsenal for £5,000 plus two of their useless reserve players. Rooke saved Arsenal from relegation in 1946/47 season with 21 goals from 24 matches and the following season was the leading goal scorer in the old top division, Division One, with 33 goals and was voted player of the year by the Daily Express. He averaged 0.74 goals a game for Arsenal which is still the second highest average, fractionally behind Ted Drake.
Ronnie was 35 when Arsenal bought him but what a bargain for three seasons before going to Crystal Palace.
If only we had some one like him today.

lacy did command a big fee for those days 75 grand I think so spurs thought he was ok , len quested a star in the 40s,along side jim taylor and eddie lowe, don't for get Arthur Rowley who went to Leicester and scored millions of goals for peanuts.his brother was star at man utd

He has announced today that he isn't going anywhere and that out of the three players linked with fulham ( sako, skeltenburg, amorebieta) one of them is a definite deal which he will confirm in a weeks time! Who do we think it is? I personally think its amorebieta
Replies
I'd guess at Skeltenburg as it would explain why the club hasn't agreed a new contract with Schwarzer.

When you look back though, with the exception of a few we have usually had the best form and years out of the players we sell.

JB - If they didn't have Skeltenburg lined up then you'd guess they'd have made a bigger effort to get Schwarzer to sign by now? I don't see us letting our goalie leave on a free without having a player lined up to come in. I'd be quite happy to see all three of those players you listed to come in, we really need to add some quality to the squad.

Daily Mail today states that Sasha Riether has signed for Fulham. First good news for a long time. Maybe we can start rebuilding a reasonable side for next season!

good idea a strong spine is wanted new keeper centre back pref big and fast, good big striker, stecklenberg , for one, Rhodes for another, centre back not to sure there has to be one around that fits the description, then start on mid -f two wingers, not geriatrics, and if jol does walk Collins,an emaculate mid -f in his day and murphy as coach , all would come pretty cheap in to days market .coyw for ever

If they all come cheap, most are no good.
posted by Al (Guest) - Saturday 18th May 2013, 11:28 AM

Why two wingers? We've got Kaca and Dejagah and hopefully Frei will make the grade if he learns not to cut inside every time he faces an opponent. One more should be enough as Duff will still be playing next season and although i don't see him being a 90 minute man from now on, he'll be useful. We have so many other areas to address it's going to be expensive so we don't want two wingers when we only need one.

What is it with all this 'I've been a supporter for 40 years and I've had enough stuff'?
Anyone who has followed the club for any length of time will know that it can (& probably will) get a LOT worse.
Unless that is you were one of the 15 odd thousand 'life long' supporters who took a sabbatical for the best part of a decade between the '80s & 90's (for which I dont blame you for - I was there and it was properly sh*t)

Face it - being miserable is virtually part of the DNA of being a Fulham supporter so you are not fooling anyone (with or without the crappy end to the season)

Take the summer off, get some sunshine, recharge the batteries, forget waistlines, Senderos and all the other the niggly obsessions and come back next season ready for another epic struggle

It's a bit like Darwin we have defined species: 1. I have been a fan since the Boar war and am giving up - there are better opportunities at the OAP Club. 2. I hate the manager (whoever). Except Roy (forgetting he walked out in July and fucked us - in the end he wasn't a nice guy ( all managers are the same)). 3. Will MAF invest (assumes he is down already - as opposed to quids in). If not then no manager could do better. 4. Lets have whoever has won a few games recently ie Collins, Poyet, etc. 5. Our players don't try, are to old, are crap. Well Rangers would swap. 6. I love what FFC is. I don't care about things I can't change and I will enjoy the crack (not Irish spelling I know). Alright I ran out of steam but one finger on an iPad isn't easy. Just stop moaning, post about great kids in youth team as someone just has and shout its too good to be true So it's not princess di but its your princess - love it or to be honest bugger off as the anti should post somewhere else.k

An easy calculation now that everyone has played 37 games.
Mathematically would could overtake West Ham but to do it we must be a winner among losers. How often has that happened?
