Fulham reserve team coach Billy McKinlay |
Kingstonian (2) 2 Fulham XI (0) 3
A Fulham XI came back from a two-goal first-half deficit to record an entertaining win over Kingstonian on Friday evening at Kingsmeadow. Billy McKinlay's side produced a stirring display after the break to secure the win.
Speaking after the match, McKinlay said:
"It was a really challenging night for the players. In the first-half we were second best all over the pitch and struggled to come to terms with their physical presence. It was a real eye opener for the players in terms of the nature of the game.
"We came out of the traps quick in the second-half, moved the ball quicker, made some better decisions and played a more positive and purposeful game.
"It was a really good exercise because in essence it was an Academy team that was playing tonight, bar one or two.
They got caught in the headlights a little bit in the first-half, they struggled to handle the style of football they were playing against.
So from that point of view, it was a really good lesson. We had to dig in and showed good determination to come back in the second-half."
